Farma Geddon
Yesterday I bought some more pigeon cartridges. While there I got two boxes of White gold 24 gram 7.5 shot steel. After work I found a few pigeon on peas and set up for them.I put one White Gold steel in the chamber and backed it up with a proper one.I fully expected to be able to shoot only close birds with such a tiny steel pellet. I was wrong.I ended up with 24 birds, all shot with White Gold.As I grew in confidence I took birds a bit farther out and even managed a triple, all dead.I know you will find it hard to believe,I still do.My gun is set up for steel,Xtrema 2 with a yank 'fowling choke. It does shoot tight patterns, but even so,I did not expect to kill birds this cleanly. I paced out six birds at over 50 paces.45 paces is about 40 yards for me,so I would say they were killed at around 45 yards. At around £100 a thou, these are going on my shopping list and I will give them an extended test and post what I think. Ferret Master
Glad to hear they are doing the job for you. I won't be using them though as unfortunately they are plastics. FM
Floating Chamber
Mike up that 'tiny' pellet. You may find it to be bigger than 2.3mm.
Farma Geddon
I suspect they will be 2.4mm,though I am not sure.I know Gamebore and Hull use American sizes with steel.
bob300w
I suspect they will be 2.4mm,though I am not sure.I know Gamebore and Hull use American sizes with steel. I can't see that .1mm will make any difference to performance, English 7 1/2 is is 2.3mm, USA 7 1/2 is 2.4mm. The main thing is that they work for you and you now have confidence in them, and at that price, get a stock in!
Floating Chamber
On past experience with steel loads, (in their very early years) 2.5mm shot would be called '7.1/2'
