THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Just got back from a walk with the dog. Fields still green but noticed some flat areas in the crops. Won't be long now. Quite hot today so not surprised not to see any pigeon but there was a lot of magpies again. In general the pigeon seem to be on grass alot by me but that doesn't help as the outskirts of my fields has long grass. Times not wasted though, quick check for where in the hedge I intend to melt into. Bit of prep' before the gun barrel (hopefully) gets HOT !!! mossy835
the barley down here is all flat, and the pigeons are on grass feeding on it a lot.
Wookie
Abosolutely nada on my permission (wheat) but lots of activity on the rape seed all around it. But... as one of the only places with a wood in the area, I'm looking forward to staking out the lee side of an evening and getting some roost shooting in! Suffolk shooter
You'll have to wait a little while yet (1-2 weeks maybe more) until the barley (Normally first to go) seed heads become milky and then the game is a foot, Best use floaters to get deeks above the crop on the intended approach for them to see with one or two birds at the head of the flattened crop. Remember to try and drop them over the flattened area though as finding them in the standing stuff is not only damaging to the crop but damn awkward. SS Fenland birds around the 40foot are ignoring the peas at the moment and seem to be on clover and grass still.
dcliff
yeah - clover and grass here too, although I've heard of some success over the peas... I'm also waiting for the laid barley!
Jim Sarakun
HERE IN CAMBRIDGE ON MY PERMISSIONS, THEY ARE HAMMERING THE PEAS. MY MATE AND I SHOT 150 TODAY, AND DID NOT START TILL MID DAY, THINKING IT WOULD BE A SCORCHER LIKE YESTERDAY, WHEN THEY JUST DIDN'T SHOW. HOW WRONG WE WERE. SO ASSUMING HALF WERE BREEDING FEMALES, ERRR, THAT'S ABOUT 450 FEWER BIRDS I WILL HAVE TO SHOOT COME CHRISTMAS TIME. NOW THAT MEANS I WILL HAVE UUUMMM, ABOUT 90 SQUID THEN, TO PUT TOWARD MY NEW GUN IN THE NEW YEAR. RESULT....

YES IT WAS A GOOD DAY, AND BELIEVE ME, IT'S NOT ALWAYS LIKE THAT. 46 YESTERDAY, AND 6 TODAY, BOTH LUNCHTIME STARTS TOO, DUE TO WORK COMMITMENTS, THOUGH I WAS ON MY OWN THIS TIME, AND IT WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN BETTER WITH ANOTHER GUN.
