jcbruno
just curiouse how common are sako quad barrels in the UK i cant seem to find them anywhere here, i cant even find a sako quad in 17hmr i have found plenty in 22lr and 22mag but it seems the dealers here arent going to bring in any new ones untill all the current inventory are sold off, so i was thinking perhaps i could send a money order to the UK and get a 17hmr barrel mailed out to me and thoughts on this i would like one with iron sights if possible are they available? Wookie
What sort of barrel do you want? I know a couple of people with the standard type barrel in .17hmr, but from memory, the only one with iron sights is the next one up and the varmint one won't fit a standard stock. I'm also not sure if they would RFD overseas,, but I guess you could try!
jcbruno
thanks for the info i guess the issue would be with Canada customs but as far as i know a barrel is no issue i would just have to pay Canadian tax on it but i think it could be done, is there any good links to UK gun stores any one could give me? Dirty Harry
Could you not get them from the States? Harry
jcbruno
i could possibly get them from the states but since 911 the yanks are very paranoid its hard even buying parts from the USA at the moment they have cut there exports to Canada way down i guess there woried that some how a rem 700 in 30-06 is going to find its way to Iraq america seems to be isolating themselvs what ever any way i am a loyalist i would rather give my buissnes to the UK aside from it actually being easier to do so
Dirty Harry
Fair enough. Google Shooting Supplies in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. I got my spare barrel from there. They should be able to order what you need and ship it. They did me a very good deal. Harry
Wookie
Kent Wool Growers in Kent had some in last I heard. Unfortunately you can't buy direct from the suppliers (GMK), but if all else fails, they should be able to give you a couple of pointers on who to go to. Aldo
I put one of the "kickezze" (spelling?) ones on that are sold the reduce the kick in shotguns. It wasn't cheap (about £25 I think) but it also added over an inch to the stock length so very usefull. It took some shaping to get it to fit but not a big problem if you have access to a belt sander. Next thing is to fill the stock with fibre glass to get rid of the "hollow" feeling. Does anyone know where i could get a rubber butt pad for one of these from??? plastic one moves around too easily...
