countrybumpkin
Hi, I have a Z6 2-12-50 and S&B 8*56 30mm both with the bikini type scope covers. I like to keep the covers on when out walking with the rifles to protect the lenses, but its a pain to keep taking them off when you wish to take a shot. Have been looking at the Butler Creek covers. Can you suggest the best type to get. The standard flip up, the multiflex or the blizzard. Must say the Blizzard seem good as they are transparent. Are they as good as the bikini covers for protecting the lenses. Also any guidance on which size for each scope would be appreciated as the Z6 has a large eyepiece. Best Regards
Dunkield
If it isn't wet or doesn't look it will be I don't use anything. I have Butler Creek flip-ups for all my scopes when the weather isn't so good. Sizing can be a nightmare, you are best going to a shop with your scope, or asking some one who has the exact scope as you to read the size off the cover. A large shooting shop sent me the wrong sizes twice, despite the fact they were for a standard scope that they stock
harv
i would stick to the standard ones they are quick to flip up the transparent just get scratched. you need to measure eyepeice and objective and go to sizing chart on the butler creek web site. countrybumpkin
Thanks Do you store them in the gun cabinet with them on - are they as good as the bikini ones supplied with the scopes for protecting the lenses or do you swap them over for storage
countrybumpkin
They seem to sell the standard ones new on ebay - does anyone know the size for either or both of these scopes?
A Sick Old Man
I have just got some Butler creek covers for my Pecar Berlin, I used http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/ebrowse.exe/search They were very quick on delivery and if you click on ,,,,,,,,, http://www.midwayusa.com/mediasvr.dll/tech...leItemID=492909 You can easily work out the size you need, I would not bother with the see through ones. The Pecar cost me a hundred quid and I am well pleased with it, you can not beat a bit of quality glass
JohnGalway
Either go to the shop with your scope or find someone who has your scope and BC covers and ask them the size. Bloody nightmare is right.
countrybumpkin
Thanks, do you store the scope in the caninet with these covers on, or are the bikini covers supplied with the scopes better to protect the lenses?
WeihrauchPower
Just get the plain ones. Apparently the image you get through the blizzard covers isn't a true image anyway, especially at long distance it cab effect your poit of impact as the plastic lenses aren't optic grade. Plus the fact they'll scratch as someone else mentioned.
2shots
Thanks, do you store the scope in the caninet with these covers on, or are the bikini covers supplied with the scopes better to protect the lenses? I just store mine with the flip ups on no damage caused in years of doing this
tuck1
I have some quake bushwacker covers for my binos. They are stretchy ones, and there is a size chart available which you print off at home, and put your scipe up against it, and then read off the right size for you. Any good? countrybumpkin
Thanks Have borrowed some calipers to measure tonight - not easy as the measurements don't seem to be exact with the size chart. My best guess is S&B 8*56 30mm eye 40.8mm size 14 I measured at 41mm obj 61.7mm size 46 I measured nearer to 62mm Swaro Z6 2-12-50 eye (too big for all size eye But Creek) 45.7mm size 25 obj 56.4mm size 39 If anyone has these covers on one of the above, can you confirm Rgds
Dunkield
I am seeing my mate tomorrow who has the same Z6 as you, I will ask him (if I don't forget ) Nice scope by the way B)
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
The BC's are stretchy so an exact size is not required, a tight fit is better than loose though. Three rifles, three scopes, three sets of BC's. The web site has a size chart. I store in the cab' on the scopes. Keep the original covers in the scope box for when you sell on your scope. Keep the BC's, if they don't fit your new scope they are very easy to sell on. I use the normal BC's, the blizards are ok for a check or spotting in bad weather but flip for the shot. tuck1
As above, the quake covers are a stretchy fit, if the scope diameter falls between 2, it gives instructions on what to do. You can print off the chart and check the size is correct with a ruler or tape. The size worked out perfectly for me.
WeihrauchPower
If you have a very large eye bell then you can use the objective covers on that end.
countrybumpkin
Thanks ordered from optics planet and delivered today. Covers fit scopes great - but can see that getting the right size is critical. Cheers for all the advice !!
