Dave-G
I got a very good price on 100 HMR winnies to try from Helston gunshop a few weeks back while I was down there with Fleabag. I frequently noticed larger exit wounds than from Hornady V-max or Remmies. I'm down that way again tomorrow for 10 days(ish) staying at Fleabag's, shooting some of his permissions - and hopefully spending some time with Tinbum if we can get rifle use on his permissions. With the heavy bunny population I expect to use up the remaining 300 rounds of the 500 remmies I bougt four weeks ago. Has any one else found this aspect - and would it suggest that the round is definitely spreading - or not fragmenting as well as the others? I'll base my next ammo purchase on what emerges from this thread - thanks guys. Edited July 14, 2008 by Dave-G
Wookie
Not really noticed the exit wounds being _that_ much bigger than the other brands I have tried, but I rarely get to use the .17 right now. I'll give it another try either tonight or Wednesday and let you know what I find.
deadeye ive
I 'm using remmington but like the Hornady's I previously used some seemed to expand and some did'nt .I think there is'nt enough velocity to cause expansion when the legs are stretched on this calibre when using a V-max bullet regardless of brand. I have even had ricchochets as well with both If they are consistant/accurate and do the job then you can't ask for much more Some of the most accurate were Selliot and bellot in my CZ
wildfowler.250
I've gone through a few different batches of ammo with different results each time. Have had some batches of hornady vmax produce hardly any exit hole at close distances and then another batch will just about gut a rabbit for me even near the 200 yard mark think quality of ammo varies quite a lot from batch to batch!
