mattslaptop247
How much does it cost to have barrells blacked? How much to have a forend re-chequered? Has anybody had these done?

GBS
thomas turner gunmakers ( www.thomasturnergunmaker.co.uk )in Reading have a list of prices for works to shotguns: Re-chequering £200-235 Re-blacking £200 Refinishing stocks - £200-400 depending on finish. Although i reckon you could probably get cheaper prices than this. Talk to straightshooter, he would be your man for the stock work. bob300w
Phone around your local gunsmiths, you are likely to find a wide variation in fees. If you are handy with your hands consider buying a chequering tool and doing the fore-end yourself, it's not difficult to re-cut, as the guide-lines are there already, it's cutting a blank that is difficult.
