Ferretboy111
Hello there, I picked up a road kill roe buck, cos im a tramp and butchered it and its now in the freezer. Now, will i die if i eat it? Anyone got any stories or know of anyone becoming ill from road kill? Just a worry, as i hear that if they have received a lethal injection that i could become ill, i presume it just got hit by a car and placed on the side of the road. Many thanks Alex

stevethevanman
I witnessed a Roe doe get hit by a car, it ran to the road side, couldnt stop so carriend on, then came back out 10mins later and got it, I had it because there was no real damage to the body mostly a head impact, still tasted good Steve
Baldrick
Alex, I've never suffered after eating road-kill deer. Why would a vet leave a deer's body by the side of the road (and not have it incinerated) after giving it a lethal injection?

Devilishdave
I have heard of cases of deer being euthanised by a vet and left at the side of the road for the highways agencies to collect. But it would be a fairly daft thing for a vet to do! There could be anything wrong with the beast it may have stumbeld in front of the car because it already had somthing wrong with it. Hence before you shoot a deer you watch it for a while to ensure it is behaving normaly before culling it and puting it in to the food chain. I am sure this beast will be ok but personaly I wouldn't take the risk but then again I have a regular supply of venison! Dave

Hodmedod.one
There is more chance of getting poisoned by a Kebab than by some road kill venison. Stop worrying and enjoy it.
