can anyone help me? ive done a search on google and basc sites, ive looked on here too. i live by a main road and have a field out the back maybe the size of 3 football pitches. i want to shoot my shotgun out there to aid my dogs training, i dont have a cap gun. just want to let off maybe 2-3 at a distance to see how my dog is coming along.

any reason why i couldnt do this? there are 4 houses backing on to the land they may get a fright.

Hi FBF i would contact the people in the houses at the rear of your land to let them know what you are thinking of doing just to keep the peace, because you know what will happen if you don't it'll be **** law and the rozzers will be around but i don't know if it's against the law to shoot on your land of that sort of size with a shotgun anyway?!! :good: Cheers cocky.22

It's not illegal, but it would be courtesy to let your neighbours know, and it might avoid a visit from an armed response unit.

Pull the powder and shot from a couple of cartridges (just use the primer) for the first couple of shots, to to see how the dog reacts.

thanks for all the replys its exactly the advice i was after, i have one dodgy neighbor and we dont get on since i caught him using a telescope to watch one of the rooms here with a 14 yr old girl in it.. i would expect him to get on the blower at the first chance he gets.. should i let the police know that i will be firing here as a pre warning?
