dog hair clippers grooming

Hi Jerry,

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I own a dog grooming parlour and there is a massive difference in the types of clippers. One of the main differences is that the cheaper models use a fixed blade (like a barbours) and then use comb attachments to vary the length of hair, whilst a decent set of clippers comes with removable blades which are changed to alter the length of hair.

You don't say what dog you have and how you want it clipping but if your dog has anything but a perfectly groomed out coat the comb attachments will just not go through it.

You don't need to buy all the blades available and on most dogs two will do. If you wanted to go down the removable blade route let me know what dog you have and I can tell you what blades you will need. These blades can also be sharpened for about £4 a time and will last you a lifetime. With the fixed blades you tend to just buy another blade when they go blunt.

Andis, Oster and Wahl all make good clippers.

Hope this help and feel free to PM if you have any questions.
