casts_by_fly
I've got a 24" heavy barrel on my 223 (12" twist) and it is plenty accurate as well (especially for a break action gun). I shoot light bullets (50 and less). If you're shooting from a vehicle then I'd go shorter. If you are out in the open then longer will be fine. I know that my 24" barrel is just short enough to not be a pain getting it in and out of a car. The gun has no receiver per se, so a 24" barrel for me is like a 28"-30" barrel for a bolt gun. I also don't have a moderator on mine so a 24" barrel is pretty compact. Thanks, Rick

Graham M
If you have a 24 inch barrel it does allow the use of a slower burning powder, which can be a lot better for the life of your barrel as it doesn’t cause as much throat erosion.
