bongodriver
I recently posted about my desire to get a 10/22, I opted for a magnum and found one, but now I have it I am realising that spare parts and aftermarket parts are not so readily available for the magnum as they are for the LR. 1. the magnum has these integral scope mounts on the receiver which look like they need a ruger patented scope ring, can a gunsmith mill these off and tap in holes for a conventional mount? 2. it's not screwcut, easy to get done but I will lose the foresight if I do, can a foresight be retro fitted? or is it easy to get a new factory screwcut barrel? 3. the trigger group looks similar to a LR, are the aftermarket parts interchangeable? i.e. auto bolt release and extended mag release. any advise on this would be hugely apreciated. Thanks
pumpitup
Have you tried http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/ebrowse.exe/b...60+***+9142+*** for spares?
bongodriver
Super, that is the auto bolt and magazine release and scope mount sorted thanks. could still do with advice on the barrel screwcut/foresight issue, as it seems impossible to find replacement barrels for a magnum. steve_b_wales
Try www. cheapgunparts.com (America) They are a dedicated website for the Ruger 10/22. I have purchased many bits for my Ruger. They also have 'how to do' pages which show you everything about stripping the rifle down etc. Edited August 25, 2008 by steve_b_wales
jcbruno
well if it is what i think and you need ruger scope mounts i would sugest just buy them as they are well priced and very durable, try wholesale sports Canada or Cabelas Canada and you could probably order them real cheap, i would sugest a US retailer but buying gunparts from the USA has become very dificult since 9/11 and you can be held criminally responsible for even attempting to bring even the most common sporting gun parts. steve_b_wales
I bought a matchgrade hammer and springs for www.cheapgunparts.com with no problem of them being sent to me. The site is worth a look if only to get the instructions for repairing/modifying the rifle.
bongodriver
Thanks for the replies guys, have got all the answers I was looking for, now just one more, what moderator is recommended for a 22 magnum?, I assume I will have to cope with having the supersonic crack regardless. p.s. I didn't mention before but I am doing a bit of customisation on my ruger, I saw once a ruger which had been converted to look like an M1 carbine (I love the M1), so I have put together all the bits, got a surplus M1 stock and dremmeled it out to fit the receiver ect, looks nice if anyone wants to see pics.
