Help with scope for 17hmr

I was thinking of getting this scope

for my new 17hmr. I have a sister who lives in America so I can get scopes from there easily and cheaply. However, I would perhaps like something with a bit more magnification. I'm not very good with scopes (always just bought Leupold), what else should I be considering for a prices of about $600?

I got the Zeiss Conquest with the same 3.5-10x50. It's perfect for the little HMR. If you are punching a lot of targets then you may want to go for a little more magnification for general shooting though the range you have with that scope is ideal (imo).

what magnification range do you want?

 

If you only want 10X magnification then the world is your oyster. I'm partial to Bushnell and Nikon. The elite 4200 2.5-10x50 is an awesome scope for that magnification range and runs about $450 or so. I'd also have to consider the elite 6500 2.5-16 for just under $600 also.

 

Personally, my next scope purchase will be for a 17 AH and is going to be either the elite 4200 6-24 or the new monarch 5-20x44. Both are in the $400-$450 range and are both awesome scopes. Maybe more magnification than you are looking for, but the lenses on both are excellent.

well I just ordered the Leupold. Was going to order a couple more scopes at the same time but the price gave me cold feet, so I've just gone for the one, and will try to recover in order to get the others later...
