tinytim38
Hi has anyone had one of these scopes, what did you think? of it how would you rate them as they are at the cheaper end of the market? I am asking as I have the chance to buy one with a view to fitting it on a .308 rifle for deer stalking thanks.

steveb
Can only comment on day time use, but have got one on my 223 that i was using for target only out to 300 yards and it was fine, eye relief is a bit out just means i have to move about to get the best sight picture but that is more to do with the mounts rather than the scope it's self, now i have a open ticket for fox and roe we will have to see how it fairs in the low level light or lamp situation. can remember when i got the scope that it did say it's good for .308, all in all great scope and i would go for it. casts_by_fly
depending on the stalking you're going to be doing, I'd suggest that you're probably better off buying lower power and better glass. A 6-20 wouldn't be my first choice for any woodland stalking since most of your shooting is going to be under 200 yards (probably less). I've used a 3-9 on my deer rifle and others in the family have used 2-7 through 4-16. The benefit of the smaller magnification is brighter optics for the same price, a lighter overall scope, and a bigger field of view. More choice too, but that doesn't apply since you already have a 6-20 picked out. If you're getting it second hand for a deal then it won't hurt you to try it. But I think you'll find that a little less magnification and better optics are a better choice. The exception of course is if you are shooting open range at distance. For deer at 300+ yards that's about the magnification range I'd be looking in. We used to shoot out to 400 with 3-9 and similar scopes, but the 5-15 bushnell I had would be a dandy for that range. Thanks, Rick
