Lloyd90
Does anyone know if you can get a Benelli M3 in UK ? I really like the look of this shotgun and its very practial. It has a switch whih allows you to have it as a semi auto and then if you want switch to a pump action. I was also wondering that if you had a 2+1 magazine on it and later got it upgraded to a FAC, could you add a longer magazine (or unrimp the old one ?) Cheers appreciate the info
neil smith
In reality its a feature you will never use, they are heavier than the M2 which is far better if you want an auto & not as strong as the Supernova if you want a pump, there are only a couple of M3s shooting the UK practical shotgun curcuit because the weight is a factor & they are not as reliable as the M2 or nova. Lloyd90
Hmm well that sucks lol, ant decide whether I want a pump or a semi auto would be good if there was somewhere you could try them both ah well so far it might have to be hosen off youtube videos So after looking the M2 looks pretty sweet, although the question remains, If you get a 2+1 magazine and at a later date want to get it FAC could you just change the magazine to a larger one ? Baldrick
I have both an M2 and a Remington pump-action. The (FAC) M2 gets far more use, as it is lighter and more pointable. Yes, you can convert a pump or a semi to Section 1, but it involves welding/sweating in a new mag tube. It's costly and time-consuming. It also devalues the gun hugely. I rarely bother using more than 3+1 cartridges in my M2, as it mucks up the balance.
Lloyd90
Cheers for that Baldrick , would you recommend the M2 ? Or is the pump a better gun ? lol I was having a look at the M2 but also looking at this new Super Black Eagle II, which do you reckon ? Baldrick
The M2 is a much more versatile, refined gun than any pump-action. I would choose an M2 over an SBE2 any day, as I don't need the 3.5" chamber. I only use 32g-41g 3" loads from my M2, and it handles them with zero fuss. I was putting several hundred rounds through the M2 per day during harvest, and the gun didn't malfunction once despite all the cack it was caked in. The one thing I would point out on the M2 is the length of pull (max 14.5"). How tall are you, Bigthug?
Lloyd90
sorry quite new to shooting , whats the length of pull do ? ( n what is it ) lol, id rather ask and look foolish than not ask and know im a fool im pretty much dead on 6 foot mate
Baldrick
It's the measurement from the front of the trigger blade, to the (centre of the) face of the butt pad. I am a shade under 6', but have arms like a chimp, therefore I need a 15.5" LOP. The Benelli's LOP cannot easily be extended. If you are built like a normal human, you'll probably find the Benelli will fit you. As with all guns, you really need to pick up and try things to get an idea of what feels comfortable and points in the right direction. It depends on what you plan to do with the gun, if you are thinking of going on to shoot some practical shotgun matches in the future then you can choose which division to shoot in & buy a gun for that division. Pump guns are in a seperate division, you compete against like for like equipment so you would not be expected to try and beat people shooting auto's when you have a pump gun. The UKPSA recognises a Champion in both the Auto & Pump Divisions. Over the last few years it has been the Benelli M2 that dominates the Auto divisions in all UKPSA National level competitions & also at the IPSC matches in Europe & the USA. The Nova & Supernova are in a similar position in the pump division & nothing else comes close across europe at the moment, so Benelli are where the game is for now. You do not need the SBE's large 3 1/2" chamber & they do not always shoot light loads as well as the M2, remember you will shoot faster with lighter recoiling shells & so save time which is the name of the game. A section 2 Benelli supernova can be easily converted, the mag tube screws out of the action & you get an RFD to fit a new unrestricted one, Pete Starley an RFD from Warwick has done several including one for me. If your after an M2 I would buy the FAC version to begin with. N
