bindi
I am looking for my first 12 bore, which will mainly be used for clay pigeon shooting and occasional/rare bird shoots. I have looked at the beretta silver pigeon/686e etc and the browning 525, but the berettas just seem to handle better to me, although i am yet to shoot both, which I hope to do very soon. Subject to which i am looking to buy a 686 or 682 sporting, preferably multichoke, so If you have one for sale, or know where one is, please let me know. Any thoughts on gun choice most welcome, or recommendations to try others. My max budget is £1000 and I would prefer a very good second hand one. Many thanks, Mark
bindi
Come on guys, I need some help here, does any of you have experience of these? thanks in advance, mark
dodeer
Bloody good guns, both of them. My choice would be the 682gold E though- higher resale value, thinner in the action, barrels are very well balanced and better blacked, and chokes are instantly reconisable with the colour band around the top. Catamong
Mark, You won't get a 682 Gold E within your budget of £1000, so forget that one. The older 682's are fine, but they tend to be a bit on the heavy side for rough shooting, so my advice would be go for a good 686 or 687. Get a copy of Sporting Gun magazine and scan the reader small ads in the back, you can get some real bargains there, or choose from one of the umpteen dealers that advertise in there. Good Luck. the last engineer
mcooke, as posted both guns are good choices,my preferance is the browning. Why ,the quality in finishing ,i have noticed a number of berettas have steel chips filings left in the works from factory, not been cleaned out well enough,a personel finding not a critisism of beretta overall ,i have 2 . The other dif being felt recoil in same loads the backbored barrels in the browning seem to be softer on recoil, beretta bore around .728" - .734" over a few measured, browning at .740".746" the constrition adding to recoil. My opinion, having both in the cabinet. good luck in your choice . Martin
