mrthumb
oright henry D, what you need is.... (AGV will do, not a bad antivirus)but its a bit bloated... (takes up alot of memory and processes) Mcafee Virus scan Enterprise 8.5 (its a corperate version of mcafee that has a very low memory footprint and you can install it with a perpetual licence that never runs out. so you get mcafee that aint bloated with all the updates that people usually pay for) give me a PM is you need a hand. SPybot S&D (install the tea timer that comes with it, it blocks anything that tries to add itself to your startup without your say so) Use firefox to surf the net, it has many addons that can speed up your browsing, make it more secure and userfriendley, for example adblock plus allows you to pretty much remove popups and adverts from every site your visit. there are many firewalls to chose from. the good ones are, Sygate personal firewall pro.. Comodo firewall Pro. the windows firewall is not good really, it attempts to blind other users to your computer and wont stop malicous software talking to other comptuers once your infected... if you get infected with a trojan the 2 firewalls above and most aftermarket firewalls will catch the packets outgoing which potentially could have all your cached passwords and ask you for permission for it to speak to the internet. if you dont like the look of the file, a dodgy EXE file you simpley block it, then go about removeing the trojan safeley. contray to popular belief most anti virus and malware software simpley cant remove the files, the people who develop these viruses etc have ways of binding itself from the antivirus and even putting itself back on after it says it has been removed. the only way to stay protected is to really learn about the inner workings of windows. and if you got vista, your on your own
