jake202
hi, i stopped at a service station on the m4 very neer my home and noticed there were some aircaft flying. so on further inspection i realised it was a company testing light aircraft and the airield was absolutely covered in rabbits. So i went home and google'd the companys name and found a email adress, this is what i put.... dear, sir/maddam i have recently seen the field which you fly on, and it appears there are rabbits everywhere, are these becoming a problem? As they do tend to dig holes everywhere i would be more than happy to come out and shoot them on days that you are not flying or the field is not in use? yours thankfully jake they replied Jake, No problem in principle but we would like to meet you and check out a few details like where not to shoot. So, call me on (private) or (private) on (private) to fix a meet. Regards, (name) met them today all set to go for whenever we wanna go out! couldnt believe my luck! anyone else been so lucky? jake Edited October 13, 2008 by jake202

seb
Thought I would carry on this old thread rather than start another as it was here I got the idea from. Driving out in the countryside for work I noticed a small airfield and remembered this thread so when I got back home I searched for it and sent them an email like the one above. I didn't expect a reply especially after I have sent out maybe 100 letters and never heard anything back. This is the reply, I think it is saying yes but maybe not at the moment, or is it saying yes you can shoot now so we don't have a rabbit problem again in the future, what do you guys think? We do not have a problem with the rabbits at the moment (although we have in the past), but we have no probs with you carrying out your hobby. There are a few conditions though as below: 1. ALWAYS to shoot away from all aircraft and trailers; 2. You must let us know when you are doing it (if we are around). Please call either XXXXXXXX or call into the office; 3. Be aware that though we may not be operating, some visitor might pop in to land! Although this will only ever be in daylight hours. Would be useful if you could pop in sometime before you start, we are usually here daytime during the week and weekends I know I will be going to meet them as soon as I can. Thanks for the idea Jake202!

However, would you come meet us in person first please and we'll iron out the do's and don't. If it was me I would go without any gun first time meeting them. seb
Bad news and good news Took a detour and went there today the woman said there had been developments and someone else has the shooting rights for the land so I would not be able to shoot there Drove down the road and there was a field full of crows so I asked an old chap who owns the field and he gave me directions to a farm a few miles away. It was a BIG farm with loads of land and the farmer said yes there at least 1000 pigeons on the field over the back plus other fields you can shoot on when do you want to start So it turned out better than expected in the end.
