the_commoner
not sure abot you but i shoot airrifles only with my lamp. i have a deben tracer atom pro (i think its called) nice little compact lamp and battery, i like it for ratting but not so keen on lamping rabbits with it, having had my previous lamp nicked i bought a deben atom 400m yesterday, went for a quick shine last night with it (didn't really need it due to the full moon and consequently very few rabbits) i love it, i got the light and batterypack, filter and handle for about £100-00, good beam, nice and bright battery not too heavy, not sure on the battery life yet because i have not used it for any length of time

auto culto
i would go for a self contained torch / scope mount option. I use a streamlight stinger on my hmr for lamping and it works a treat. Its good for 120m which is ideal form most night time activities

the_commoner
what distance should should i be looking at seen the tracer stinger which looks like a nice bit of kit it says it light upto about 70m is this ok it probably wouldn't be my choice to be honest, the effective range of a air rifle is 35 - 40 yds so arguably a mini maglite would do the trick its just i like something with a bit of power, once you put a red filter on it drops the light level down your money though
beaker
and here was me thinking it was an easy question !!!!! lots to think about so what your saying is go for something with a 100m plus beam to take into account of the red filter ? rabbit hunter what do you use ? fullbore
what ever you do dont buy a Logun lamp. You will be able to buy a Smart bicycle lamp from the local bike shop for a fraction of the cost and its the same thing Edited October 14, 2008 by fullbore
rabbithunter2008
I've got a Tracer Atom Gunlight Does the job all right If you going to get a power full lamp get one with a dimmer Or you end up lighting the whole place up.
