henry d
I have checked the data and it looks good, has anyone used varget in either calibre ?? Many thanks in anticipation
tulkyuk
I use varget in my .223 and 6.5 x 55 with excellent results - if you need some decent loads for your 6.5, i have a few you can try
henry d
Thanks T, I looked at the charts and it seems to be a nice load for both and not too hot!
tulkyuk
First one and my favorite load :- 39grn varget, cci br4 primer, Lapua brass & 100grn Nosler ballistic tip spitzers COL - 2.855" Excellent load for Roe, fallow and the odd fox Works really well in my Tikka T3 Varmint - should should work in yours ( but remeber to build up the load - even though this is top end of the load chart, some say its still a fairly tame load)
henry d
If you want decent velocities in the 6.5, use N160. Varget, although a good powder, is too fast for best results unless you are using very light bullets. I already have N160 and I wanted to get something for lighter bullets, so thanks for the confirmation fister, I appreciate the advice. Cheers Tulky, I will give it a go when I can get some bullets
v-max
Varget is very good & I have it for the 22.250 not tryed in 25/06 yet but i know a few lads on this in 243.
njc110381
I developed a varget load with 140grn softpoints in my 6.5. The accuracy was the best I've got so far, but it was at the lower end of the power scale probably due to the bullet weight?. Certainly well worth a try
henry d
If you want to really play with 140's, try some Reloader 22. The pressure spikes for the available velocity must be terrible with the varget and heavy bullets surely?
njc110381
My favourite load now is a 130grn TSX over RL19. Can't remember the exact weights and lengths, it's written down somewhere and got put in a safe box when we moved Luckily I've got quite a few made up. If I get to the last one and haven't found the records I made I'll have to measure and pull it to find out how I made it!
