sutty
I have just made a set of hide poles for less than pound each and upto now have performed well. heres how to do it ,and what you need to make each one. 1 length of plastic electrical conduit= 99p @ B&Q ( 22 or 25mm) in black( shine will dull with sand paper) A short length of scrap metal tube approx 18" and of a diameter to fit either OVER or IN the plastic pole Cut the plastic tube to the height of your net and with a pair of tin snips /hacksaw cut a vee at the top(this holds the net top) Weld a small footplate onto the metal or drill and fix a bolt through about halfway up this makes getting it into the ground easier. and there you have it stick the metal into ground, place plastic over it,hang net on light to carry, cheap enough to hide under hedge untill next time, and if you secure with bungee elastic it bends to form a more natural shape. okay, so its not adjustable, what do you want for quid REGARDS SUTTY
Malc
Sutty, that is a great idea. You must be one of us elite Yorkshiremen, to think that one up! I especially like the "natural shape" bit, (but mainly the less than a pound bit).
sutty
Thanks Malc. Thought you might like the title. It has to be said that they do drift about a bit in a wind, but if your just starting out they are cheap and cherful and as i mentioned a few bungee straps or the like will secure them down. save your money for the important things in life like cartridges, beer and beer. did i mention beer. lol regards sutty
Cranfield
All you Yorkshiremen have to do, is sell a whippet pup or two and you will be able to afford as many hide poles, as you,ve got flat caps. Ee by gum, ecky thump, as like !!
Malc
Well....I'd want more than 7 hide poles in exchange for one of these smashing pups. Just look at the markings. You'd be robbing me. I'd be giving 'em away. Think of my family guv. It'll pay you back ten times over. Think of the stud fees. Thorough-bred, they are. Cost nothing to feed. Make a good gun-dog. Come on now, best offers please! 8) 8) 8)

Malc
You can make it easier to get them into the ground by simply flattening the end with a hammer. The only drawback is they are usually made of steel and therefore heavy. Reduce the weight by chopping the inner section down a foot or so. neil
Thanks for that chaps,i'll see how heavy they are first and if they arent to bad (i could do with one of those golf buggies as it is) think i might get myself 4 and a can of green spray paint to cover all the shiney bits
