MC
The thread on the forend nut is on the outside of the mag tube. In the end of the tube is a plastic plug that holds a 3 foot long spring in place.
neil smith
MC It sounds very much like you would be able to fit an extension on your gun with the relevant FAC paperwork & if its currently on SGC the crimp would still need to be raised, but that can be done by most gunsmiths. I will find out a little more on when the changes were made, a couple of good friends have the Xtrema 2 so ill ask. N
Mungler
Martin, You can convert yours. You are welcome to stroke my FAC Extrema2 - incidentally I just got the variation back to include clay pigeon shooting (oh the joys of FAC regulation for what is still a shotgun). Anyhows, the conversion is a doddle. There is a stage 1 conversion to 5 shots with the crimp being removed - by this it's a new standard tube (without a crimp) which costs buttons. The stage 2 conversion to 9 shot requires the addition of an extension tube. I can take the extension tube off mine and return it to a 5 shot. All it is is a matter of tubes and springs. I have no intention to convert it, I would not be able to use it for wildfowling if I did and that is the main reason I bought it in the first place. I really can live my life without stroking your extrema Mung, thanks for the offer anyway.
alexm
I have no intention to convert it, I would not be able to use it for wildfowling if I did and that is the main reason I bought it in the first place. Speaking for the Xtrema2 at least, it actually comes with a plastic restrictor rod which you put in the magazine tube to limit it temporarily to 3 shot so that it complies with wildfowling/hunting regulations in various countries. (they have 3 shot limit in the States too where all the guns are supplied as 5 shot as standard) All you'd have to do is take off the extension tube and stick the restrictor rod into the tube. Edited to add: Whether or not you'd get it listed for wildfowling on your ticket is another matter! Edited October 29, 2008 by alexm

Mung is correct, I have seen a great many different makes of tube & find these to be the best I have seen. http://www.cactustactical.com/osc/nordic-c...ons-p-1224.html In my many years of practical shooting around the world, the Nordic extensions are the best around they are amazingly light & one of the best things about them is the ends unscrew to allow for ease of cleaning, anyone who has tried to clean a blind tube will know how hard it can be getting mud from deep inside a dead end tube, with these simply unscrew the ends off & push a swab straight through. Tim the owner of Nordic is a great guy & very much a competitor who understands what the shooter needs & if you get one of these tubes be sure to get the barrel clamp at the same time, it prevents you from wacking the tube on things & damaging the threads on the tube & the gun where it attaches. http://www.cactustactical.com/osc/nordic-c...amp-p-1196.html The company shown will ship to the UK or if you prefer Pete Starley an RFD from Warwick keeps them in stock here. njc110381
I had the first model, which also had the extendable mag for some reason? You can get 3 shells in the mag if you wish to, but I don't think it's a good idea. The trigger was fine, and it didn't rust on me (although salt may change that statement). Get the X2, you may as well
