MAX SHOT
HI NEW TO THIS SITE SO EXCUSE MY INEXPERIENCE: A LITTLE PERSONAL HISTORY. I STARTED SHOOTING IN MY EARLY TEENS (AIRGUNS ETC) PROGRESSED ONTO SHOT GUNS FOR CLAYS AND GAME WHICH I STILL SHOOT TODAY (BUT NOT AS MUCH AS ID LIKE) ALLWAYS FANCIED STALKING SO 2 YEARS AGO DECIDED TO "BOOK A WEEKEND" AND A GREAT WEEKEND IT WAS, NO KILLS BUT WHAT THE HEY! SINCE, I HAVE TRIED TO SHOOT AS MUCH AS I CAN AND HAVE OBTAINED MY CERT FOR 22RF WHICH IS FANTASTIC FUN!!!! AS WELL AS .308 WHICH I INTEND TO USE FOR DEER (I MAY ALSO APPLY FOR .243 IF POSS) MY PROBLEM IS THAT IAM UNDECIDED EXACTLY WHAT MAKE OF GUN AND SCOPE COMBO TO BUY? IVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE TIKKA T3 RANGE AND QUITE LIKE THEM "ALL" LOL BUT AM BEING CONTINUALLY INFORMED THAT REMINGTON ARE THE MORE ACCURATE WEAPON ANY HINTS OR RECOMENDS WOULD BE APPR. ALSO ANY HINTS ON SCOPE AND MOD WOULD BE APPR. THANKS
auto culto
imho the remmy is a better gun, but if you get a cheap one you will need to upgrade the stock. Its more cost efective to go for an 700 extreme conditions rifle but they are not cheap. If you want cheap and cheerfull and very good out the box without spending more then definatly go for the T3. They are very good for the price.
Baldrick
Having owned Remingtons and Tikkas amongst others, you will struggle to find an out-of-the-box Remington that bests a T3 in the accuracy stakes. I would hazard a guess that the people who continually inform you that a Remington is the more accurate rifle have probably spanked considerable money on getting the rifle to that point: new triggers, new stocks, re-barrelling, the list goes on. I went down that route and it can be fun. However if you want a rifle that shoots straight from the word go, and needs no adjustment or customisation, buy a T3. And buy good mounts and good glass. JRDS
Go and handle both and pick the one you like best. You won't notice the difference in a Stalking rifle regarding accuracy, referencing an oft used Fred Carter saying 'You ain't shooting Blue Tits'. Quite apt. straightshooter1
well as far as my cabinet is concerned I have on my ticket .22rf short range rabbiting not much flesh damage .17hmr long range bunny shooting .22-250 cf great on the foxes and roe in scotland and .308 for all deer and the occassional fox I might come across on the way back from stalking as for make well the rimmies there is only one choice CZ great value for money and they do exactly what it says on the box .22-250 well thats in the shape of a Tikka T3 Lite fantastic rifle does what it says on the box better than anything else I have tried and I wouldn't swap it for anything as for the .308 yet to fill this space I would be crazy to buy anything else but Tikka but have posted a thread asking if there is anything else in this price range that can do the job better I bet there isn't but hey ho might try something else if there is a compeling argument but as said before its personal choice try each out see what feels right and go for it
