Fisherman Mike
I have a Pinewood pigeon magnet and although it works very well I think there are a couple of design flaws in it which can be easily remedied. Before I make these known to Pinewood I wonder what you guys think and if you have experienced similar problems. I shoot a good deal on the Cotswold escarpments around Stroud, Uley and above the Severn vale. Problem is more often than not its windy during the peak shooting months of December January and February. As a result the magnet gets blown about a bit. A couple of good gusts and the arms are up in the air and eventually work loose from the square section socket. A couple of minor modifications are needed. 1. A method of securing the arms to the sockets simply by way of a tapped hole in socket or arm with a finger screw or similar. 2. The arm elevation is adjustable by way of a adjusting screw in the socket. But there is no way of locking the socket in this position and the arm swings up under a good gust of wind. Some sort of fixing chain from the socket to the rotor body would be a good idea ? Once I am settled in the hide I dont want to be jumping out every 10 mins to re-attach the arms of the rotary. FM. Cranfield
I have a Pinewood Advantage rotary and can imagine the problem scenarios you refer to. The arms actually lifting up when in use, only happens a couple of times a year. Either its windier where you are, or Deako's flocked, full size decoys, with outstretched wings, are heavy enough to keep the arms down. I have never had the arms come loose in the "socket", but that is probably due to the reasons mentioned above. Both of your ideas might cure the problems, but I think the siting and tension of the "chain" from the arm to the rotary body might take some working out. If you suggest these improvements to Pinewood, it might be worth just registering your interest in receiving copious amounts of free decoying equipment, as recognition of your input to their product development. I shall indeed and if your suggestion is taken up will avail you of your share of the spoils
Deako
When you phone ask for Roland, and if he doesn't give you any free gear, tell him I won't supply him with any more timer units!!
