how much for AYA No2

Is it the single trigger non selector model ? Guess it's like anything, it's worth what someone will pay for it. Bit of a buyers market this soon after Christmas and a bit over the top for general bashing about shooting. Borrowed one a while back and it was a lovely little gun for game shooting, the one I tried was the non selector and I'm not sure I like the right barrel first option, you sometimes need that bit extra range of the choked barrel on singles I reckon.

Hi Rooster

It is a double trgger. I bought it some time back as a best gun and then went to Lincolnshire to fish and shoot with a pal, his mate took us to a posh clay school and I tried his wifes OU and was told that i shot a lot quicker with it so i have never fired it as i did plan on getting a 686 Bareta.

I need to cut the stock down and did'nt want to spoil it so there it stayed in the cabinet. I was quite upset having just bought the thing and here I am still without the Baretta.

cheers

It might be easier to say how much you want for it Tom in relation to what it cost you. There are many examples of the No. 2 and stock configuration and overall appearance can have a big reflection on the price you will get. The No2 sidelock ejector in 28ins barrels in reasonable condition would start at about a grand for a 60,s gun. and as wabbitbosher mentioned just under 3 G for a new model.

I love the spanish guns as I am a bit of a pureist and mainly shoot side by sides.

Any chance of a photo or two. ??

the older AYA no. 2's are only worth a grand is they are in vgc and have 28" barrels or longer. No one wants 25 or 26" barrels these days and most dealers wont bother to buy them off you as they dont sell or they might offer you a small amount of money for it e.g. £400.

Near me i can get a vgc no.2 28" for £950. I can also find the 26" models for anything from £350 to £750.

I have an AYA XXV sidelock 12g - a brilliant gun both in looks and use.

I don't understand why the 25" barrels are deemed to be so bad by dealers, if the barrels are pointing in the right place - the lead shot will connect with the target.

If they are going that cheap, then they are fantastic value for money.

I could not agree more I have a AYA No. 4 26 ins barrels one of a pair ( sold the other one)

It is a brilliant gun and worth every penny of the £450 I paid for it. The ejectors are amongst the best you will find on any gun and would down a pigeon on their own  ( Well almost )

The blueing is excellent and the stock well figured. I have stripped the stock and oiled and polished it as it was a bit shiny, and fitted a rubber butt piece.

Fantastic Value indeed.

The one I borrowed for a day was great to shoot with, I'd be interested at the right cash price as it's not the single trigger version. Can you post some pics Tom ??

Short barreled guns were fashionable at one time, I've a Sabel sidelock with 26" barrels that belonged to my late Father, he was a gunsmith and did quite a bit of work on it although it was new. Refinished the stock and generally fettled the action, nice gun but not worth a mint, fancy doing a swap ;-)))
