Blackbart
I know its one of those topics that people have different views on but does anybody know what NO barrel cleaning would do to a centrefire rifle ? 10,50 or 500 shots ?any real info out there? LeeinVA
Not cleaning the rifle would most certainly affect accuracy.. Any soft lead, or jacketed projectile leaving the barrel at over 1,000 fps will cause leading, not to menting the fouling created by the burned powder, which can render actions sluggish, and well as, a failure to fire.. dunganick
Personally i dont clean my guns until they stop shooting accurately. With some of my rifles this happens quickly (50 shots) but with others its well in excess of 250-300 shots.

Blackbart
The reason i ask is my mate has a 22-250 that he says he has never cleaned since he got it !!.He has had it 3 year it is second or 3rd hand and he fires about 250-300 shots a year and i know from using it that you can hit a drawing pin at 100 yards with it,so accuracy isnt a reason to clean. But i was wondering if there is any safety reason to do it? garyb
Nick.. The only reason I clean the 22 is due to it not extracting empties... it remains spot on zero at all times
