p-a-s Posted December 18, 2008 Report Share Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) hi all just a quickie i have a day pigeon shooting planned for sat 20 dec 9am till about 2.30pm,cant get on the fields due to the gate being locked till 9am.on my last visit to this farm i took another lad shooting over sunflower stubble,loads of pigeons about i ended up with a poor 12 or so,but plenty of surounding fields to feed on.now i have got the neighbouring farmers permision to shoot on his rape so i can offer a couple of lads a chance to have a day out.my spare decoy/hide is already spoken for(nerooo)if he gets his magnet on time so you will need your own kit.and insurance,i would rather this went to a couple of newbies but i know not all newbies have the kit so the 1st 2 replies i get on this post get to come,also you might need to double up in 1 car as i only have room to take 1 person in my truck paul EDITED to add the meet up is in Burton on Trent at 8-815am the shoot is about 10 mile away Edited December 18, 2008 by p-a-s Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Are you likely to offer any more shooting to a couple of safe guns in the very near future, I have not been out pigeon shooting yet and I know Pair Away has some decoys gathering dust, we are in Stoke and have our own transport. p-a-s Posted December 18, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) Andy, i was going to pm you but i decided to post here for other interested parties to see .yes im hoping to go again in the week not sure what day yet,decoys on there own will not have a great result on the sunflower stubble because it is so dense the least i would recomend on the sunflower would be floaters/bouncers.i will be going for a better look in the morning as i was short on time today hth paul EDITED to add went for another look today and still plenty of woodies about these rape and sunflower fields the farmer has started his gas guns today but he has told me they will be switched off tonight,and left off all day saturday,so is it a toss up lads =xmas shopping or pigeon shooting lol.paul Edited December 19, 2008 by p-a-s Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

tazkb Posted December 20, 2008 Report Share Posted December 20, 2008 I would have loved to come paul to give you a hand, problem is your a good 2 hours away and i don't have a 4x4, also i am disabled and no way could i hump 2 rucksaks guns and shells more than 100 yrds and when you add the rotary, batteries etc then it becomes a heavy load for 2 men let alone 1. factor in being close to christmas and many people have a lot to do, then a rainy day (don't bother me) and it's easy to see why you don't have many takers. p-a-s Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 20, 2008 Tazkb,thanks for the reply i have sent you a pm,i do agree with what you said,re xmas etc so didnt expect much of a show.i am putting this on for anyone interested in other outings.(hope thats ok by the mods).if anyone has problems carrying there kit or walking long distances dont let this deter you,i can put your kit in my disco and drop you off at the place that you will set up your hide.however i can only take a couple of lads at the most as i have taken the back seats out the disco so only have the passenger seat and the 2 fold up seats.you only have to get to my house,so a 4x4 is not neccesary.paul ps to anyone interested,you didnt miss much it was a very poor day.
