  1. 1 x CAB Animal Transport Box High quality box ideal for transporting dogs and other animals. This light weight box was used by myself for transporting working gun dogs. The box is manufactured from 6mm polyproplene and the interior is smooth making it easy to clean while the exterior has an attractive leather grain finish. It has two opening doors that can be padlocked if required. The dimensions are 27" high 40"wide and 37" deep. It fits a good few dogs in it!! £250 Collection Only 1 x Aluminium Dog box Dog box used for transporting gun dogs in the back of my 4x4. Made by N & J Aluminium Linings Ltd this cost almost £500 when new. The dimensions are 24" high 36" wide and 24" deep. It has a hydraulic opening compartment at the top which I used for storing dummies and other gun dog training bits and pieces. one of the locks if faulty but this doesn't effect its use in any way. £250 Collection only
  2. Hi Dan, with my dogs I always started buy putting their food bowls down with a bit of a bang, then clapping while they were eating their food increasingly louder. I then moved on to a cap gun from a distance while they were eating moving closer and closer. I always did it while they were eating so they associated the noise with something good. Im no expert but this has always worked for me. Paul.
  3. Anyone fancy transporting this to Kettering for me??
  4. Thanks for all the responces. Gives me a lot to have a look at.
  5. Thanks for the ideas so far guys but I'm looking for something that will light up objects (dogs) at a 100 yards or so. I dont mind paying a good few £'s for the right torch. I once went shooting with Ceaser off here and he had an amazing torch, small but really powerful.............................
  6. Hi, I'm looking for a torch for me and my missus mainly for dog walking. I want something super bright but not too big, possibly rechargeable too? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Paul. The extra "c" in the title was a typo, sorry.
  7. Really, that's strange. He hardly looked at mine when he came a few months ago. I wonder why he would have a problem with a second had one if it was up to the job? Give me a clue then, where should he go for his 1st budget shotgun? Thanks.
  8. Hi, I'm looking for a shotgun cabinet for a friend of mine who is just starting out. We are in Kettering so the closer the better really. Thanks in advance. Paul.
  9. Hi Kongo, thanks for your offer, I'll definitely take you up on that. We're off to Wem camping this weekend then back up north next weekend visiting family and going to a music festival the weekend after that so I'll be in touch. Paul.
  10. Thanks for the kind words folks, now to try and find some permission around here.......
  11. 1st things 1st. I think I found the lay-by. Its a big one in the left as your heading back towards Kettering, crescent shaped?? Really enjoyed the clays, very friendly and welcoming, had a good look round and blew a few cobwebs out of the gun, my Mrs had a go and hit a couple, she was disappointed but wants to try again, she could probably do with as lesson and not by me!! Anyway next thing I'm going to try and do is get some permission around here, there seems to be a lot of wood pigeon around and nobody shooting them.....!?!?!
  12. Cheers for that, setting off shortly. I'm living in Kettering, where EXACTLY is that lay-by....?
  13. Has anyone been? I'm new the area and was thinking about going this evening?I might even take the girlfriend along......,
  14. Good afternoon folks. I was a pigeon watch addict a good while ago but due to a chance in marital circumstances I haven't been in here for a while. Anyway, I have moved from sunny Lancashire to an even sunnier Kettering, Northampton, having separated from my wife of 13 years last september. Fairly amicable separation, marriage just got stale and we both decided we weren't getting any younger and to go our separate ways. I know knowbody in the area so if anyone is from round these parts please say hello and perhaps we could meet up and you could tell me a bit about the area, potentially over a drink or two. Have a great Tuesday, Paul.
  15. Guys, they are far from being fully trained gun dogs. They are coming out for an hour or so on not so formal shoots and following their mum and dad about. I sent the parents for a grouse on a shoot the other week and Herbie one of the pups came back with the dead bird and delivered it perfectly to me. Since then when picking up after a drive or hoovering up he has brought me several other birds to hand, his sister is no where near ready for this though.
  16. al4x, they are not only beating, they are picking up too. Love everyone's opinions in here........
  17. Quick update. All pups sold no problem at all. I've kept two back and both are starting to do a bit of beating and picking up. Intelligent dogs with loads of energy. Dog is a lot bigger and more steady than the bitch. One of the pups has gone for agility training, a couple are working and the others as pets. I keep in touch with all the new owners and all of them have been back to visit or come to stay while their owners have been on their holidays. I'll put some recent pictures up soon but they look like small labs with big ears. People still think they are labs though. Hope everyone is having a good season. Paul.
  18. I've not been in here for a while but I'm looking for a post from someone who offered pigeon shooting and accommodation in a small caravan with a wood burning stove. Sorry not much to go on there but I'm sure a few people from on here went and stayed there, in fact I think someone nearly burnt it down!!!?!? Any help appreciated. Paul.
  19. Morning folks, I'm down in Kettering all this week and just wondered if there was any beating or picking up going? I have two very competent dogs (a springer and a Lab) and they can both work as beating, picking up or peg dogs. I know it's a long shot (no pun intended) but thought I would ask. I'm fully insured with BASC and have plenty of experience under my belt as I work on some big estates back up north. Looks like there are plenty of pigeons around here too, loads of fields of OSR, anyone do any pigeon shooting in the area? All the best, Paul.
  20. That's very good advice, stick with that and make it fun.....!!
  21. Jeffd, the puppies spend most of their time climbing over the Spaniel, he really looks after them. About a week ago our internal kitchen door was being hugely rattled, we went through and it was Woody the Spaniel banging it with his nose, he then rushed outside through the dog flap and went to the bottom of the garden where one of the puppies was stuck down the side of the chicken coop. He's done that twice since when they have got themselves stuck....!!
  22. Thanks for that Neil, they are a real handful at the minute....!
