Snotty
Captain Peter Hawker shot a woodcock om the 26th of January 1810. Returned from the Spanish Wars, sorely wounded and confined to his room, but a friend of his laid a bet that he would be well enough to shoot a cock before the winter was over. This seemed less likely as the days wore on, but then one obligingly landed on his front lawn and he bagged it out the window. Is it worth cooking one woodcock? Looks like one burp and you'd be empty
ollie
yes snotty, it may not fill you up but the taste is worth cooking it. Dazza you mustn't be shooting woodcock friendly ground in NI because over xmas I shot a lot of woodcock, but congratulations all the same. white fox
Our last shoot of the season today, three woodcock flushed, one shot. 26 brace of pheasant. Roast the complete bird, innards and everything on a piece of toast, the juices run down onto the toast. Fantastic
Snotty
Are woodcocks the ones that leave the ground like a bolt from the blue and are gone before you can say Jack Spit? Think I saw some today while out walking the dogs in Friston forest.
