webber
A couple of weeks ago, a fellow St. Helener joined PW and said hello. Since then there has been a series of PMs to and forth. The end result was that I offered to take Doc Savage, a newbie shooter to Kelbrook, mainly to allow him to try his newly acquired Beretta 686S, and also to allow him to try my semi auto. By the time we set off this morning the group had grown from 3 to 5, as Docs brother and dad decided to tag along. We travelled in convoy and arrived at Kelbrook around noon. We headed for the hut to catch a quick brew. Little did I know that Mike had not had any breakfast, and that the Savage crewe were AAA breakfast balm munchers, and quickly sucumbed to the alure of the full monty on a bun. At some point someones egg made it to the deck before it could land on the bun. The result was the production of yet another breakfast. Hell, I thought if these lads can shoot as well as they can eat, I'm in for a rough afternoon. Whilst they munched their way through the balms I decided to do my little safety talk to save a little time later. I thought that this may limit the number of questions as their mouths would be full. One cup of coffee soon turned into 3 before we headed to the car to collect the guns. As I was returning from my car, another shooter, whom had been sat at an adjacent table stopped me, and advised me how impressed he was with the little safety talk that I presented to the chaps at our table. I explained that I did not really know most of them, and that the shoot had been arranged over the Internet via the Pigeon Watch Forum. A smile as wide as Morecambe Bay appeared on his face. He then introduced himself as Blaser F3. It transpired that we also share a liking for another shooting ground, a little closer to his home. It was he, whom had put me onto the ground at Lupton, also via PW. By now the Moss Bank Munchers Marathon Team were making their way to the first stand. It soon transpired that one of their team was declaring himself on the injured list due to a shoulder injury from weight lifting. Yeh, OK. and I'm supposed to believe this. Personally, I think that he tried to catch the renegade egg, and was feigning injury due to his lack of speed. We had a do a various stands in varying conditions of wind and light rain. The shrubbery at Kelbrook certainly proved its worth, as did the quite newly installed substantial shelters which have appeared at some of the stands since my last visit. Doc and his brother were both impressed with my Beretta semi, and I think that Mr. Beretta will be selling 2 more of his most excellent guns courtesy of Santa in the not too distant future. At around 2:50, we had shot up, only a few no birds. My original fear was ill founded. For the time being at least they are better eaters than shooters, but practice makes perfect. We headed for the hut as another squall came in, and enquired if we were OK for a coffee before they closed. Fortunately the frying pans were washed up, praise the lord, I'm quite sure these lads could have downed another balm; but the coffee pot was full, but not for long. We left Kelbrook a little after 3pm having hit some and missed some in good company, and made yet more friends in the shooting community. Pigeon Watch at work and at its best. I'm sure that this is an exercise that we shall repeat in the future, possibly at a few other grounds. webber

BlaserF3
Hello Webber, It was nice to meet you in the flesh and yes, I was impressed with your safety brief. I was an RCO for seven years and safety is paramount. By the way a full English breakfast is only £4.00 I believe.

She tells me that they are good for me. I'm sure that she's right. My wallet is £4 better off anyway. I'll organise something for Lupton, probably in March, and keep you posted. I'm committed to the shoot most Saturdays in January and February, and as far as I can remember Lupton dont do Sundays? I look forward to meeting you and other PW members in the future. webber

webber
My dearest McF. In days gone by I have asked you several times to join us for a trip to Kelbrook. I have even almost pleaded. I appologise for not asking you, but as I know that you love shopping so much, and the close proximity to Christmas I thought that I would be wasting my breath, as you would be too busy carrying bags. I promise to ask you next time. Honest! webber
McF
Webber I think real reason you dont ask me anymore is because the last time we went your dad passed comment on how many more i hit than you, and after you told him in no un-certain terms to keep quite, i guessed my trips to kelbrook were numbered. The other reason is probably because if i come it will cost you twice as much as you still owe me a round for beating for two seasons, which you i state you said would be payment for me beating instead of you. I await your reply Mcf :
webber
McF You know all too well that I always honor my debts, and will happily pay for you at Kelbrook, or some similar decent ground, but you do need to condescend to favour us with your company once in a while. However I fear that your prowess at shooting may be short lived and misinformed. My dad may well have been with us at Kelbrook, but you need to stop and ask who is he codding? You by telling you that you are shooting better than me. Or the rest of the world. Have you forgot that my dad has been blind for nigh on 10 years. Come to think of it I've not taken him out shooting for a couple of years, and he does enjoy the craic. webber
McF
Webber It is only on very rare occasions that the apprentice gets better than the tutor and is usually when the tutor grows old, seeing as im younger than you its not going to happen now is it, be honest to yourself. your dad may well be blind but hes not deaf and knows when you miss, its usually followed with the words "i dont know how i missed that" Edited December 22, 2008 by McF

Dead-Eyed Duck
Taz Today was actually yesterday! I'll give you a knock when we next arrange something. webber All part of a plot to make sure that when he shot yesterday, nobody else was there today to see how poorly he shot the day before At least I think that is what he meant today, about his shoot yesterday, or it could be the day before tomorrow  At the next shoot make sure that he doesn't set the handicap the day after the penultimate date so that he can rig the result in his favour:no: Don
webber
Don After your last post I'll make sure that I give you a knock as well. You can keep score; plat jam and knit fog. You can also buy the coffee. Anymore wise cracks and you can buy the breakfasts as well. Please remember that the lads from Moss Bank really can eat, and could easily move onto cake as well. webber
