anser2
So far its been reasonable on the east coast with no frost or ice on the Norfolk Coast. We have had a lot of cloudy nights and that has stopped temperatures dropping too low. Out this morning , some sleet and snow , but it melted fast and all the duck ( teal and mallard ) shot in very good condition. The temperature now ( 10.00 am ) is 3C . Spaniel
I was out near Oldbury at 5.30 yesterday morning and it read -8 on the car temp gauge. Just before the light came up at around 7am the Temp dropped even further and the Salt splashes were freezing over. But got my 2nd Wigeon of the year
MC
More information can be found HERE Despite the covering of snow we had this morning it is actually quite warm outside. The forecasts are good so hopefully the ban won't come into play, the birds around me are in fine condition. Some of them are even bulletproof

David BASC
Current cold weather in Scotland - Latest news - plus updates as and when they happen on the BASC web site for Scotland , England, N Irealnd and Wales David Despite the recent spell of cold weather in Scotland the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) is not calling for Scotland-wide voluntary restraint with respect to the shooting of ducks, geese and waders (including snipe and woodcock). Monday the 5th January is day 7 of the trigger period that could lead to a statutory suspension of wildfowl and wader shooting in Scotland, after day 15. However, and after discussion with Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), it was agreed that there is little indication that wildfowl and waders were either coming under stress or losing condition. In addition, there is a clear indication that overnight temperatures over much of Scotland will rise in the next couple of days and that a statutory suspension is unlikely. “Indications are that temperatures are likely to rise over the next few days, with much milder weather then covering most of Scotland. BASC Scotland, in conjunction with SNH and RSPB Scotland, will continue to monitor the condition of the birds†said Dr Colin Shedden of BASC Scotland. “In the meantime, individual shooters are encouraged to behave responsibly and to react appropriately to the condition of the birds in some of the inland areas that have experienced the more severe overnight frosts, such as the Cairngorms and Central Highlands’’ Up-to-date information and advice can be obtained from BASC Scotland on a 24 hour basis on 01350 723 226 or 07770 990222.
