weedraker
Hi all. I've done a lot of reading, and I'm now starting posting. Firstly I'm 27 and an occational shooter. A friend of mine has a Winchester 101 sporter, 30" barrels, fixed chokes, O/U he's thinking of selling. What sort of money would I be looking at, as neither of us have any idea on price? I haven't seen it yet, but assuming its ok condition wise. Another friend of mine (another occational shooter) has a clay trap on his dads farm. He has a few social/work related clay shooting days coming up and wants a bit of practice before hand. So I'm going to practice with him, just the two of us. So can anyone recommend a good book or DVD on clay shooting? I'm not looking to do it seriously, but want to get the right techniques started and no bad habbits. I've done plenty of pigeon and rabbit shooting but very, very, little clay shooting. Thanks in advance, Lots of great reading on the site. JRDS
Alot depends on the grade and condition. A basic Pigeon Grade in reasonable nick around £550 or so, Grand European's in top order probably £1000 - £1200.
humperdingle
"Breaking Clays" by Chris Batha. It was the book which helped me understand the mechanics behind clay shooting in simple to understand terms. It covers all aspects of clay shooting, and how to approach different targets etc. Well worth the money.
weedraker
Just an update, the Winchester is about 15-20 years old. Thanks for the book recommendation.
JRDS
Which model is it?
weedraker
My local dealer said for he'd pay £400 for the Winchester to retail it at £500. I also have also been offered a Nikko 5000. I think its a skeet version. Fixed chokes. In a box. About 25 years old. Is that worth buying? Whats its value? Regards Michael
