Techy question

Mpeg 4 is a type of video compression, mp3 is a type of audio compression. It's not possible to watch an MP3 file. (if that makes sense!)

___________

Part 3

ISO/IEC 14496-3

Audio A set of compression codecs for perceptual coding of audio signals, including some variations of Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) as well as other audio/speech coding tools.

_______________

That's just a partial breakdown of the mpeg 4 file, which solely deals with audio. So as you can see, it's a file type that handles both audio and video. It is possible, but if you're doing it to compress the file, there's far better ways of doing it. Look up an mpeg compressor or convert it to divx, using divx converter (you can select how big you want the output file using that program)

If it's a case that your system isn't playing it, becuase it's unrecognised format, download an mpeg codec pack, or just download VLC Player, which plays everything (search for VLC in google)

That doesn't make sense,

I downloaded a piece of bagpipes music from Itunes (my mate is having a burns night party) but it has been downloaded as a Mpeg4.

It is only a piece of music unless the album artwork is classed as video.

I downloaded a free trial of a converter but it would only do 30 seconds before it wanted me to buy it.

I'll try google again

MPEG 4 will play both music and video, that's the type you've got. HOWEVER.... if you've taken it off iTunes, it'll have DRM (digital rights management - or something like that) which will basically stop you copying or changing it. You need a bit of DRM removal software before you do anything,

As it says,

Can I convert a MPEG4 file to an MP3? if so how do I do it?

Cheers

Martin

Martin,

Mersea doesnt even have streetlights and in 2009 the residents are still deciding between VHS or Betamax.

Stop making out like you know what an MPEG4 or MP3 are. They were droids in Star Wars werent they ?....

LV,

I'll have you know that the Mersea residents decided on Betamax last year. Anyone got any tapes I could borrow. Blockbusters doesn't seem to stock them. I suppose they will catch up with technology soon enough.

Axe,

It would probably be easier to learn to play the bagpipes than try to work out how to record on my sound card.

Cheers anyways

Martin
