libs
I have shot 2 flavours on center fire and one of the rim variety !! I had no idea what to expect in terms of recoil for each and would have loved to have had access to a refrence tool before hand. So far I can compile that From softest to hardest in terms of felt recoil .22LR 6.5 x 55 Swedish .308 PLEASE add your own experiences to the list and correct others where they are wrong and explain why. Baldrick
Worst recoil I've ever experienced was from a lightweight, unbraked and unmoderated .378 Weatherby Mag. It was unpleasant, almost spiteful. I have a .470 Nitro that spits out 500gr solids, but at 15lb with a fitted stock, it is significantly more manageable. I've shot almost all of the big African calibres, plus .50s, the .408 CheyTac and .338 Lapua. All have been punchy, but tolerable when set up properly. Least is from a PCP air rifle, i.e. no perceived recoil whatsoever. Edited February 7, 2009 by Baldrick
mikee
I have never fired a big rifle but had a light weight 10b bored out to 8b and that really kicked, after about 5-6 shots the trigger guard would cut into my finger and blood would splash every where, my mate accidentally pulled both triggers and it sat him on his a**e with a big head ache, horrible to shoot but the geese hated it more mikee
