SPORTINGSHOT
I was at Doveridge today and have to say what a brilliant ground . I have seen on a forum on here that people are surprised at the price of clays (27p to non members) However for the selection of stands and quality of the targets I dont think this is bad. Plus I was told that if I became a member this would be reduced to 20p...bargin. Also the ground is undeniably well presented and staff are keen to help. Whilst I was there I noticed that they have a sporting competition around once a month (I think the next one is the 15/02/09), where the high gun in each class, AA,A,B and C had a chance to win £100. Is it just me or does this seem a much fairer way of doing things than the usual high gun prize fund. I nderstand that people who win competition after competition have worked extremely hard to get where they are however its nice for me (C class shot) to have a bit more of an incentive!!!! What does everyone else think?
Catamong
It's a great idea, and it certainly seems to boost entries, last time I went there it was bombed out, in marked contrast to nearby Kegworth. Cat.

pair away
doveridge is a good ground , i understand you have been today and all was well , it can be a different story depending on what day you go on , we went in a group last year and in around 3 hours we had nearly 200 no birds and alot of traps with only one bird working , there was no problems when we told them this at the club house and the no birds were knocked off the bill and problem traps attended to , sunday is a busy day for them so its in their own interest to get it right , in short im not knocking the ground but the service is not this good every day . SPORTINGSHOT
Not sure as I have not been to Kegworth in a while but I was talking to some fellow sporting shooters, and was surprised to find out that sometimes there are not even 100 birds in the competition. The amount of targets can vary between 98 and 102?! I have not heard the same said about Doveridge. What is the Kegworth sporting shoot like? I am trying my best to improve at shooting competitions and would like to know where other people on here recommend?
Emmsy
makes no odds to me as im stuck in AA, as for the other classes its usually the same faces.
