mrendall
I have always heard people saying how much woodys like Rape, well there are plenty of rape fields round here, however the fields are often quite large and at the minute about 3 foot tall so were on earth do you start. How do you know if pigeons are on them? How do you lay out your decoys in sight, with the stuff being so tall and dense?
lazza
Try & find the patches that are shorter, try looking beneath some trees around the edges, or the tractor tracks. Best not go wading through the farmers crop though, he probably wont be best pleased.
dead-eye-dick
The thing to do is get a pair of binoculars and watch the field you'll soon see if they are feeding there by the way they are flying. If there are no patches that the pigeons have keept short they wont be able to land. If you read the posts from everyone on the site none seems to have meny feeding birds in their area, As in the film 'Field of dreams' '' they will come'' Once the rape is harvested, you'll have pigeon curry, pigeon and chips even pigeon sanwiches .....infact you'll never want to see another pigeon again.........

Craigie
Try looking aroun dthe edges at the shorter patches thats where they have hit the rape hard in the past therefore it is still trying to grow, although it really is away from the bbirds now look for another crop at this time of year peas are good at the moment.
