seisobs
Set up on the edge of a rape field yesterday with 30 odd deeks, just left them lying on the round as it was too hard to push the Eezy wobblers in, had my magnet with me too but the ground was rock hard with frost. Lost of pigeons flying high but wern't interested in the deeks, they were making for some pine trees half a mile away. The farmer had said that this particular field was 'Blue' with pigeons the day before - Not the case when I got there (08:00), there were lots of pigeon footprints in the snow though. Managed to bag a couple of birds flying over, even got a crow. Had a walk over to the pine trees later in the afternoon and the field behind the trees was covered in pigeons who semed to be on the clover. Didn't have time to lug over all my gear so it was pigeons 1 me zero. No worries though, a day in the hide is better than a day at work. Fired 7 cartridges all day, no problems with the Extrema 2 either. Jake.
nhamm2
Quite right. A bad day on the pigeons is worth 10 good ones in the office
Catamong
Seisobs, Perhaps you should have planned things a bit better, and blocked off their other feeding options by putting out banger ropes on the nearby fields or teaming up with other guns to keep them on the move..?? Midweek shooting on your own over vast acreages of rape is a waste of time unless you can keep the birds moving. Most of the farmers down my way don't want birdwatchers on their land, they want guys who are serious about killing a good few pigeons every time they go out, particularly at this time of year, when the woodies can do serious damage to a field of rape. Cat. I would have planned it a bit better but it was miles away (Over an hours drive) and I had not shot there B4. I will know the next time.
