Staffs-Shooter
Im in the market for a new Magnet & have been looking at:- Deakos "Decoying UK 'Ultimate' Lightweight Pigeon Magnet" @ £129.99 Advantages Price Weight - 4.5lbs Full money back guarantee Built in tripod (4spiked stand) Includes carrying bag Retro fit flapper available (Question - is this needed?) Disadvantages No speed controller Pinewood Advantage Advantages Weight - 5.5lbs 12 month guarantee Includes carrying bag Disadvantages Price £215 Tripod additional £30 No speed controller Pinewood Advantage Pro Advantages Weight - 6.25lbs 12 month guarantee Includes carrying bag Includes speed controller Disadvantages Price £275 Tripod additional £30 Other Options include the shootwarehouse starter pack (£65), ultimate lightweight (£145) & ultra lightweight (£175) or indeed the "shed" jobbie! My driver is quality & performance. I have previously bought a "shed" job & they are naf (poor build, i ended up getting the spike extended to my spec & a full respray). Money is not, within reason, a problem. Well chaps what do you reckon?
Staffs-Shooter
Went for the Advantage Pro kit in the end - cheaper than buying seperate. Plan to most likely sell the flock decoys on ebay! Lot of dosh but you only shoot (sorry live) once.

Staffs-Shooter
I have the Pinewood Advantage and have never had any problems with it.It is less bulky and much lighter than others I have experinced. Mine was delivered today however in the pack i found a steel rod circa 5/8 diameter & 6 inches long. Any idea what its for?
M ROBSON
SS, You will find a hole in the main shaft just below the motor. Put the rod through this hole and use it to screw the shaft into the ground. Mark.
Guest Mr Pieman
I have a Pinewood too. It has broken twice. First time the seals split and grease leaked out from the bearing housing. Second time the rotating top fell off - pigeons attached etc!! I'm not that fond of it and although its light, I use it very little for fear of it 'letting go' again. Having said that, both times it broke Pinewood fixed it without any arguements. Perhaps mine was a rogue unit PP

lurcherboy
SS, had a few and seen others choices. I now use shootwarehouse. My need is reliability, not looks, and this is met with the added bonus of less lucre. Good luck with your choice.

Staffs-Shooter
Had chance to set up the magnet (fridge magnet as the dragon (wife) calls it  ). Cracking piece of engineering - much better design & weight than the diy jobby. Fits neatly into a quiver/slip apart from the battery which in turn comes in bag with carrying strap. Bit worrid as to rigidity in the field however given the earlier comments on service should be ok Hopefully off shooting on saturday dependant on how the birds are moving. Looking forward to setting up & "giving it a go". I only have two shooting days prior to my holidays so im hoping to hit into some birds as by the time i return we will be scurrying for the last of the drillings.
