Depends what you are after really: single or multishot

Single shot: I advise go for a 2nd hand break barrel from a good company. Eg something from BSA, Air Arms, Weihrauch. Make sure it is 12 foot pounds (hunting strength), and I would personally advise .22

Multi shot: DON'T be tempted to buy single shot PCP that can be converted. Eg Air arms s200. They turn out ****. If you want multi, shell out the cash and get a purpose built affair. Don't modify a single shot.

If you are going to shoot LOADS/fancy setting up a mini pest control type thing then I advise getting a decent PCP multishot. But if you want a bit o target shooting + ability to go get some pigeon, rabbits etc now and again - go for the single shot break barrel. You only need one shot if it is the right one

To summarise: Break barrel is better than PCP for the occaisional rabbit coz....

1)cheaper

2)Does the job

3)easier to maintain

4)no pratting around with pumps or buying diving bottles

5)CHEAPER!

Im with boomstick on this one-you can easily spend a grand and get something that looks pretty but ultimately doesnt kill a rabbit more dead than a rusty gun with a cracked stock. At the end of the day its all down to the depth of your pocket and luck-if you see a used bargain and you know its a good gun then grab it cos dealers ive spoken to reckon they cant get enough quality used guns to sell.Study guntrader till you know it off by heart if you want a real bargain-if its private it will cost £20 to post so take that into account-if its a dealer then you have the postage plus whatever your local RFD is going to charge you.I recently bought a HW 80 with scope and extras in unfired condition for £180-privately-so there are some bargains to be had but , like i said, you gotta be quick. As for guns themselves-stick to german or english for quality(in my humble opinion)
