Rotary virgin

Hope someone can help...

I will soon be going out with my shell decoys, flapper and new rotary for the first time.

I normally put the flapper about 10-15ft downwind of the shells.

I was thinking about positioning the rotary even further downwind, say another 20ft or so behind the flapper.

I appreciate that every day's different, but is this about right?

Will the pigeons try to land between the flapper and the rotary?

Thanks

You want to put the rotary in the decoy patten with the plastic decoys. there are some pattens on this website, i will give you the link, may help you with idea. If one idea doesnt work then just keep moving it about trying different things. magnet dont always work as well as some people think.

CANT GET THE LINK TO WORK, SO USE THIS GOOGLE LINK IT IS THE THIRD ONE DOWN.

i like my rotary 15-20 yards either side of my decoys, although the rotary does bring them in, sometimes i find the birds jink away if it is too close to the 'flock' they were going to land in. I started off having it very close to the main pattern, but after lots of trial and error i find it works best this way

good luck either way!

+1 - I did the same thing and now we place the magnet to the left or right quite close to the hide and watch to see which way they jink (if they do) then move if needs be to help steer them into range - I've had days where the birds have landed on the middle of the rotary and some have been hit by the arms and days where they are scared stupid by the rotary - best to judge it on the day, if it works leave it where it is, if not move it till it does or switch it off
