A good result today,

I decided to have a look out over Westerdale this morning for a few hours to see if there were any bunnies about.

The weather was poor with lots of snow and that very fine rain that soaks you to the skin but I was sure there would be a few kicking about.

This is the location, sorry about the size of pic’s lads.

The day ended with a decent bag of 9 rabbits, I couldn’t carry anymore, my arm was killing me and my feet were freezing so I went home for a well deserved hot brew.

Just finished cleaning them and I’m now sat telling you all about it.

Hope you like the pic’s as much as I enjoyed my morning.

60 yards is where mine is set, I think this is about the best distance to set your scope up for a rimmy.

Yes I agree its a very nice rifle, new this year, I've only had it out on live stuff a few times. The groups are starting to tighten up now, and although I've only tried the ELEY Subs through it I dont see any reason to change them.

5 round test group before I start to shoot just to check zero is OK and its time to start.

Happy days,

 I wish you had told me that yesterday.

I did get blood on the barrel and stock and it took me ages to get it from the barrel but its stained the stock. :D

Only a little bit but it's pi#@ed me off no end.

I gave the stock about 8 coats of protective oil when I first opened the box but its still got into the grain.

This was something I didnt know, but I do now.

Cheers anyway, I'm going to post your tip just to let others know.

Why dont you get a big game bag and paunch the rabbits where you shoot them.

I always do this and half bury the entrails for the fox, carrion or buzzards to find. Where I.i shoot there is little danger of the public straying across them

I can normally carry a dozen bunnies in my bag slung over the shoulder.

Just a thought.

Hello all,

Jonno the mod is SAKO'S, I asked for it when ordering the rifle, very good and easy to clean.

FM,

I forgot the gerber so I was busted and had to haul them round with me, not easy in 18" deep snow, my calf's are in bits today.

I noticed a few fox tracks and some poo when walking round, I think I'll leave him a few treats and wait for him one night with the lamp. I noticed loads of pheasants kicking about which doesnt say much for our shooting over the season but this is the reason I could do with getting rid of mr fox.

DM,

I'm up in the northeast, near Saltburn-by-the sea, just north of the North Yorkshire Moors, some very good rabbiting land due to the constant resupply the moors offer, being a national park you can only grouse shoot at the right time of year so its endless.

Two lads went the other week and had 50+ with nets, the week after they went with the lamp and had another 40+ so my 9 dont sound very good, but it gives you and idea of how many there is.
