pigeon master
A good result today, I decided to have a look out over Westerdale this morning for a few hours to see if there were any bunnies about. The weather was poor with lots of snow and that very fine rain that soaks you to the skin but I was sure there would be a few kicking about. This is the location, sorry about the size of pic’s lads. pigeon master
The first bunny was taken at about 50 yards at 9:30 this morning, there was plenty about but the snow was telegraphing every move I made so I new I was in for a few long range shots. pigeon master
Not long after I come across two rabbits sat just outside one of their holes, took a shot over the sandstone wall and luckily the other didn’t move so they both went in the bag. pigeon master
The rabbit population around this area is huge and I would say they are in there thousands with a regular stock up from the moor, this is some damage to a tree that fell the other week, many trees have been damaged this way so keeping on top of them is important. pigeon master
The day ended with a decent bag of 9 rabbits, I couldn’t carry anymore, my arm was killing me and my feet were freezing so I went home for a well deserved hot brew. Just finished cleaning them and I’m now sat telling you all about it. Hope you like the pic’s as much as I enjoyed my morning. pigeon master
60 yards is where mine is set, I think this is about the best distance to set your scope up for a rimmy. Yes I agree its a very nice rifle, new this year, I've only had it out on live stuff a few times. The groups are starting to tighten up now, and although I've only tried the ELEY Subs through it I dont see any reason to change them. 5 round test group before I start to shoot just to check zero is OK and its time to start. Happy days, The PM I know pieman, its bogging at the moment, just waiting for it to dry out abit before I get it cleaned up. Shame on me  Edited March 8, 2005 by pigeon master

dunganick
by the way just a tip for next time your going for a pic of the gun and its new friends......blood is one of the only things which can remove blueing....just mind you dont get it on the barrel, ruins the finish awfuly
pigeon master
 I wish you had told me that yesterday. I did get blood on the barrel and stock and it took me ages to get it from the barrel but its stained the stock. Only a little bit but it's pi#@ed me off no end. I gave the stock about 8 coats of protective oil when I first opened the box but its still got into the grain. This was something I didnt know, but I do now. Cheers anyway, I'm going to post your tip just to let others know. The PM

Fisherman Mike
I couldn’t carry anymore, my arm was killing me Why dont you get a big game bag and paunch the rabbits where you shoot them. I always do this and half bury the entrails for the fox, carrion or buzzards to find. Where I.i shoot there is little danger of the public straying across them I can normally carry a dozen bunnies in my bag slung over the shoulder. Just a thought. FM. pigeon master
Hello all, Jonno the mod is SAKO'S, I asked for it when ordering the rifle, very good and easy to clean. FM, I forgot the gerber so I was busted and had to haul them round with me, not easy in 18" deep snow, my calf's are in bits today. I noticed a few fox tracks and some poo when walking round, I think I'll leave him a few treats and wait for him one night with the lamp. I noticed loads of pheasants kicking about which doesnt say much for our shooting over the season but this is the reason I could do with getting rid of mr fox. DM, I'm up in the northeast, near Saltburn-by-the sea, just north of the North Yorkshire Moors, some very good rabbiting land due to the constant resupply the moors offer, being a national park you can only grouse shoot at the right time of year so its endless. Two lads went the other week and had 50+ with nets, the week after they went with the lamp and had another 40+ so my 9 dont sound very good, but it gives you and idea of how many there is.
