willbick
i've just got into airgunning and have a webley xocet .22 (carbine i think) and a xocet .177. i think they're both standard rather than xs. they seem ok to me but i know they're far from being the best quality break-barrel springers. my question is what actually makes the difference between different quality rifles? is it the precision of the metal-working? or the quality of the metal? and how much difference would there be in terms of accuracy between a standard xocet and a top notch weirhauch? (cant spell it!) also, the silencer on my .22 is fixed on with an allen key screw and i tried to undo the screw today just out of interest but it was as tight as ******* and i couldnt budge it - in fact i bent the allen key in the attempt! can anyone advise? thanks
loopy bunny blaster
the quality difference between air rifles is absically everything on the gun, how well the barrels made, how well the action functions, the quality of the wood and the woodworking of the stock, basically everything on a theoben rifle will be a better piece of engineering than the equivilent on an SMK, hence the price difference
bruno22rf
Your silencer is most likely alluminium whilst the grub screw is high tensile steel-the screw has been overtightened and damaged the thread in the silencer.Try heating the area as hot as you can (try a heat gun) then use a decent allen key (if it bends -its ****)-you could also try pre soaking the screw in WD40 for as long as possible beforehand-even if the silencer is steel this should still work-good luck! evilstoat
the grub screw could have been loctited in place, like bruno22 says a little heat should help, if it's in using loctite that should free it up Edited March 9, 2009 by evilstoat
