piegeon decoying

Get yourself a dozen pigeon decoys from Mole Valley Farmers as they're probably the cheapest around for full body ones, or just get some half shells from ukshootwarehouse and they'll knock 15% off for being a PW member.

Don't worry about a magnet yet or any other fancy gear. Just a load of decoys and a hide will do you fine. :good:

Oh and a tip from another member I was once given. Buy wooden kebab sticks to prop the head up of the dead pigeons that you put out in the pattern.

Hi there. If i was you i would get straight onto uk shoot warehouse and order up some dead bird cradles. You carnt beat dead birds as decoys you already have four shoot a few more and freeze them down ready for the next time you go out. I keep about twenty frozen ready for the next trip which happens to be tomorrow. Good luck mate

Hey mate, i have just started pigeon shooting as well, You need to get 10 or more decoys, full body are good but half shells are light weight. It doesnt really matter but there are some poor decoys out there. i know some good places to get them from if you would like them (PM if you would like links) It would also help if you had some movement in the patten, there are many thing that provide this, maybe for a start get a bouncer for the dead pigeons you have.

I have just got my shell, Pigeon shells X12, Air pro decoys, Bouncers X3, Hypa Flapper, and a camo bag. Put my order in on saturday and they have arrived today apart from some thing out of stock.

However, i have been shooting along time with only 10 decoys and a magnet which i dont use that much as it is heavy to more about fields. And i havnt really had a good day shooting pigeon yet. See what the new stuff brings. LOL

Send me a message if you want links and stuff lol.

Do you have anywhere to shoot? If so what crops do they have?

Have you had experience shooting pigeon when i first started i though it was east but there is a lot to know lol.

Hey dude... My personal choice is to use about ten full body decoys set in a staggered horse shoe kinda shape about 25-35 yards away from the hide, and slightly to the left. Heads into the wind, tail up into the air. About 10 feet left of the pattern i use a rotary (my favourite piece of equipment) with flocked decoys on, wings fully spread. I find that this really works to bring the pigeons in on the wind, and at the point that the clever ones realise that the rotary isn't a couple of his mates, they happen to be 25-35 yards away, directly in front of my hide... And boom-boom, Mr Beretta has introduced some size 6's right up his *****!!

All i can say is that sitting still is a virtue and something you really need to do. Even though they can only see in black and white, i'm sure it's in some sort of special Pigeon Blu-Ray or HD, cos the slightest movement at the wrong time could send them away for the next hour or two.

Oh yeah, and take a flask!!

Good luck and have fun!!! It's cheaper than shooting clays anyway!!!
