We have a few dogs- ESS, Cockers, lurcher & terrier.

All the dogs are train to the respect of off the lead, come, heel, stay etc. Plus all but one have been trained in the area they are needed for-i.e. spaniels train for flushing- retrieving- whistle etc, lurcher trained to run on command, terreir train for rats etc.

Now we bred our working cocker 2 years ago- her first litter. She had a little trouble as some come out the wrong way and was causing her to get stressed. With a little help from us with the breech pups she manage to deliver a nice healthy litter. Now there was one pup that took ages to come out and when it did it wouldn't breath, so my dad spent a good 10 mins rubbing it in a towel, cleaning the air ways and breathing down its mouth. His efforts paid off and the pup came around and was happily taking its first intakes of milk.

Anyway we decide to keep this pup and called her Meg. She has just turnt 2 in Feb and hasn't had no training when it comes to working her- she does walk of the lead and does come back when called but that really is it, she doesn't no the whistle or hand directions. She has never wanted to play with a ball or dummy, just likes to follow the other dogs and play-- so really just a pet at the mo.

I was walking all the dogs the other day, and I was concentrating on some 4X4's going round the off road centre on the ground my dad keepers for. When I looked around and see Meg pick something up- it was a mixi rabbit, she picked it up turnt round and brought straight back to me without a word from me. I then took the rabbit by the back legs and she let go. The rabbit was still wel alive and kicking she hadn't ripped the fur, nothing. Very softed mouth.- I don't get that from some of my trained spaniels! She really did suprise me. It just shows you how some dogs just have it in them to please you. And she did get praise- :good:
