raistrick
Hi All, I've a limited amount of space for some ammo storage at my university gun locker. We have 2 safes side by side (one for 3 guns, one for 5), both with ammo boxes at the top. Above the safes there is about a foot or so room for what I would hope would be a couple of small safes that we could put more ammo in... allowing us to start bulk buying. Ive looked at these online - JFC Ammo Safe Does anyone know how many 25 cartridge boxes these will hold? Can anyone recommend a better safe? Cheers! Lloyd90
It's not a requirement to keep shotgun ammo in a safe! Does your uni insist on it or something ? A good idea maybe is those metal ammo boxes ? A couple of those locked in a cuboard would do the job If it need's to be a safe that holds large amount's you can buy smaller safe's for pistols and ammo that would hold a fair few. Or a possibility would be a 2 gun shotun cabinet If I wasn't keeping the shotty in mine I could fit alot of boxes of carts in it, payed £50 for it SH
raistrick
It's not a requirement to keep shotgun ammo in a safe! Does your uni insist on it or something ? They do. They get touchy about us using the boxes at the top of the cabinet! I think we'll be looking at buying a couple of those ammo safes and getting them installed. There's no way we'll get another gun cabinet anywhere. The only place we could would mean personal student guns would have to go. Just wondered if anyone knew roughly how many boxes would fit, or whether there are specific safes designed to snugly fit a set number of boxes :S (long shot)

They conform to the requirements and only cost about £20 so you could put a few there for the same price. The ones you are looking at will hold about 20 to 25 boxes. Cheers taz. . raistrick
20 -25 boxes... fantastic. Not my money I'm spending so will measure up for those I think
fuzrat
I would be suprised if the safes from the link held 15 boxes. A slab of shells (250) is 320x235x125 mm and thats 10 boxes the outside dimensions of the safe are 300x300x221 so gonna be a bit smaller inside. Best to give the manufacturer a call and find out for sure. Fuzrat

Check sizes though as might not hold as much as you would like but much cheaper so could buy more. Mine has digital keypad entry so no hassle looking for where you hid the keys either. paulos
While I was running my Uni team I just kept a few slabs under the bed. Out of sight, out of mind n all that

Out of sight, out of mind n all that Aye, and so do most teams. I don't think that's particularly fair on the captain/treasurer to have to do though. Further, I can't, I'm a hall tutor - can't take the risk. If the university have space for them, then they should help me get what I need installed. At 15 per safe a couple should do the trick nicely!
