steve_b_wales
Bulletboy and myself decided to try our luck on the crows again, as past shoots have always been good. We met at the farm at 6am, and drove up to the top field. We put out about 12 decoys and a floater. It was very foggy up there, and as we were placing the decoys, crows were already flying around us. Our hide was set up against a dry stone wall, with the wind coming from behind us. Not long after, a crow came over and I shot it. Then another came to have a look and Mark shot him. We both missed a few, and some crows were hit but flew down the field, only to drop about 200 yards away. One pigeon came over the decoys, and I bagged him. We ended up having 11 crows (picked up) and 1 pigeon on the field, which was just grass. The farmer phoned me to ask how we were doing, and he said that there were '1000's' on the 3 fields that he had just planted ( he never told me before hand) Things went quiet, so we picked up and went to one of the planted fields. A total waste of time! Not one bird could be seen. Afterwards, I drove back up the lane towards the top field, and Mark had his Air-Arms S410 ready in case we saw a squirrell etc. Crows were on the tree's and I stopped so that Mark could try and get a shot at one. They all flew, except one, which was on the top branch at about 25 yards away. The pellet hit it smack on and he dropped. We were both pleased with the result. The crow was huge! So, at the end of our time out, we shot 12 crows and 1 pigeon. The photo's show the 1st crows/pigeon we shot, and the crow that Mark had with the Air-Arms. All in all, another enjoyable morning. Thanks Mark. Edited April 6, 2009 by steve_b_wales

Spaniel
Good to hit some crows, as they have such good eye sight and they normally see you first. I was over Forest of Dean yesterday around the Coleford area (Day Trip out) and there was a farm up there with pigeons dropping like anything...but i never seen any Rabbits about but there is some good ground all up that way what must be woth a bit of door knocking.. Cheers Ian
