Skinners dog food

I just wanted to voice my experience with skinners dog food. My lab, Magnum, is now 9 months old. When we got him at 7 weeks he was on beta puppy food. When he had his vaccinations we were given the usual hills science plan puppy pack including 3.5kg of large puppy food. I decided to switch him to science plan large puppy as i was attracted by the very precise measuring guide as to how much to feed your pup. As a first time dog owner i found this reassuring. We continued him on science plan until 7 months. I had had my doubts about weather to keep him on science plan or not and my doubts were fueled by the price of the stuff (it is now about £56 a bag in pet shops!) I came to the realisation that I was paying for very clever marketing by science plan in that they get you on it by providing the vets with puppy packs which contain the food and thats you set on £50+ a bag for the rest of your dogs life.

Whilst at the west country game fair I noticed the skinners stand, they were selling 3.5kg kg trial packs for £2 so after dicsuccing the food with the seller i picked up 2 bags to try magnum on. All i can say is fantastic. His coat is perfect, he is alert and bright eyed, had nice solid stools and really looks forward to dinner time! All this for £16 for a 15kg bag! Its vat free as its sold as working dog food. Magnum is on the 'crunchy' one and is doing brilliantly. I know a lot of you guys already feed skinners so this is for the first time dog owners like myself. Magnum is thriving on this stuff, im glad i found it!

i changed to skinners field and trial last year ,i have 4 dogs and feed them the duck and rice (hypoallergenic)and they really are in excellent condition.during the shooting season i feed the hardest worker on the higher protien chicken based field and trial.it is half the price of the previous brand i used, i really rate it.

I use the same duck and rice for my parson russel and cocker - been on it for years, they do really well on it!

I get mine from countrywide farmers. Either duck or salmon will be his next one as he is just finishing off the puppy one, we were given a few little bags of different skinners to try him on as he suffers with soft poo if his diet is changed. he is fine on either of the rice ones but not on a couple of their others. we use the salmon stuff for training treats as he loves the stuff. and its cheaper than the other stuff we used to feed him on before skinners.
