Guest
I want to make a youtube video of the safe procedure used to load my shotgun, but I don't have a tripod or any way of holding the camera, and of course it's not safe to hold the camera AND the gun, so a friend offered to hold the gun and show the proper technique for loading safely whilst I hold the camera. My friend is not a shotgun licence holder or gun owner, but no live cartridges were even in his house so he couldn't have fired it even with the knowledge. We are going to go the range soon to teach him the proper safety rules anyway, but in the mean time he wants to put an instructional video on youtube partly to show what he's learned etc, all under proper supervision: I was within arms reach at all times etc. . . i.e., all proper procedures were followed. So essentially, the video will just be a video of him showing the loading technique (without cartridges). I would hold the gun but he simply would like to do it. Would this be ok to post on youtube, or would there be any reason why this would not be allowed, either by youtube, or under UK law? Markio
Is he licensed to hold a video camera? Then surely that would be the right way around. I'm confused about the benefit of him showing to the world via uTube 'what he's learnt'. But then to be honest i'm confused what benefit this video would be if you did it too, surely that sort of thing should be taught one-on-one to a beginner rather than via uTube? Not having a pop etc... EDIT: Hang on, he's loading, your holding the camera.. then your holding the gun while he's doing it? Sounds like you making this all very complicated. Go to range, show him how to load and shoot, enjoy yourself, go home, have beer, stuff uTube. Edited April 16, 2009 by Markio
Guest
OK, simpler version... Is it legal to make a film of a mate loading a shotgun on his property when he doesn't have a shotgun license. No real cartridges, just the action of opening the breach, putting in an imaginary cartridge etc. Or do you think putting a vid of that on the web could cause trouble for him or me? He wants to do it but of course we don't want to break any laws. Edited April 16, 2009 by Guest
CZ550Kevlar
He can handle your shotgun on your property but he cannot handle your shotgun on his property. Also unless i am missing the point, what is the point?? I don`t understand why you can`t demonstrate while your friend records, that way it`s straight forwards no messing around. I know you say he wants to do it but i just think it is making things too complicated.
