wingnut
I would just like to say a massive thank you to ProTom 1, He took me and another member from this forum ( i am sorry, i am rubbish with names) to a field he has permission to shoot over, (broadcast beans) and boy what a day. I was trying out a new gun for the first time as well, any way, we set up on the smallest part of the field, but after an hour or so, no joy, mainly due to 3 or 4 guys building a pheasant pen just across in the next field so we moved the hide. Tom placed it in the large field just where there was a large gap between 2 hedges, we set the decoy pattern up without a magnet as i had noticed the birds were shying away from it. We put out flock shell decoys with 2 floaters with pigeons on them, and set up a flapper right in the middle of the gap between the hedges. as soon as that was done it was all systems go. For the next 5 hours or so it was almost constant non stop action, some times there were that many birds in the air trying to land in the decoy pattern it was impossible to decide which one to aim at. In the end i ran out of cartridges, that'll teach me to take more. I managed to finish the day with 31 shot, 29 collected, it could have been a whole lot more if i was used to the gun, sun in my eyes, choke? , cartridge combination ( i know, typical excuses ) I would recomend to any one out there who gets the chance to shoot with Tom to do so, he has taught me so much over the last few months regarding hides, decoys, etc. Tom, you are a gentleman and a scholar. ALL THE BEST MATE.

Doc Holliday
Sounds like you had a most excellent day. I like to think that it's not always about how many you bag but how much you enjoy the experience. No doubt a sunny day amplifies the feel good factor, well it does in my book. Good shooting anyway. wingnut
Wingnut how many cartridges did you get through Hi, to be honest i am not sure, i had 2 full boxes of 25, 1 box with 10 left from a previous day, and then i got a box off Tom, of which there are about 10 left. So by my calculation that would have been 75 cartridges for 31 birds, + a couple who had the stuffing knocked out of them, (including a crow) but still managed to fly off. If they come in to you as they did for me i would make sure that you have at least 250 with you, i wish you the best of luck, and if the shooting gods are smiling you will have one of the best days shooting of your life. Have a good one. regards Andy
