297chrisc
Has anybody else seen the massive discount Sportsmans in giving on some of their Bushnell Optics? For example: Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 RRP = £353.00 Sportsmans Price only £133.99?! Thats like £219.00 OFF! Link to Sportsmans Bushnell Range Are these guys for real? ANyboy had any good/bad experience with them? Im going to see what else they have! Chris
Beardo
you usually get massive discounts as they're getting rid of old stock to get a new range of scopes in - i picked my Nikon up for a sweet deal from Uttings in a similar way
swift4me
Not surprising to see this sort of thing. The playing field has levelled quite a bit in optics in the last ten years, and if you go to an industry trade show, the number of Asian manufacturers of high quality "private label" optics is huge. Not surprising, given the current economy, to see the need to move merchandise. The next step in the crisis will be manufacturers contacting large dealers with special pricing just to keep the assembly lines going. The inventory "piling up" in the US and in Europe has more than a few manufacturers worried. Ammo, guns for protection, and reloading sales are all strong, but the peripheral sporting market in the US is VERY weak at the moment. 297chrisc
Anybody had and good bad experiences with the Sportsmans? (before I go ahead and buy)
The Burpster
SGC are good for service if they have in what you want. I tried ordering a part from them, after 4 months they returned my payment telling me the part was not available.... Guess what....? One phone call later and a wait of 3 days had the part in my hand from the maker in the USA, it was sent FOC with an apology for it breaking...... Just be wary would be my advice. Beardo
this has been discussed a few times, a lot of people have had great service, some have had to wait ages for kit. personally i bought my Deerhunter trousers from them (mail order), and they were brilliant

Macnab
Just to say my experience of SGC is very mixed. As has been said if what you want is in stock then fine, if not BEWARE. I posted on here in Feb asking for advice on high seats. Got some sensible answers so ordered 2 seats from SGC the same day (18th Feb). They took the money off my card and sent a pro forma email saying order was being processed. So far so good. After a few days I call them to ask about delivery as nothing had showed up. They said the double seat I had ordered (and paid for) was on back order and should be there in a few weeks. Here we are about to go into May and I have heard nothing more despite follow up phone calls. The single seat arrived a few days later. It was missing the shooting rail so not much use to me. I called them to ask what the story was. Was told it was an optional extra, which I checked and was load of ballacks. So eventually they agreed to send a rail direct from manufacturers, which arrived and is for a completely different seat and is not even close to fitting. They have promised to send out the correct rail today. In the meantime I have had the sh1tty job of organising to send a shooting rail back - total pain in the *****. You can make up your own mind but these are the facts. I ordered these on line. In future I would ALWAYS call to check if what I am ordering is in stock. They are not bad guys when you get them on the phone but their promises to return phone calls etc are usually not kept. Sorry to hijack the thread but just thought it was worth mentioning before everyone rushes off to give SGC an order. In this climate most places are trying to run their stock down to a minimum so I expect this to get worse rather than better. M
steve_b_wales
My experience with them (Exeter shop) has always been excellent. Their shop in Newport (Litts at the Sportsman's) totally rubbish!
njc110381
I'm fed up with the Sportsman now. I've been waiting weeks for a Lee crimp die and if I hadn't chased them up I'd have no idea what was going on. I got part of my order in the post, no paperwork at all to tell me why things were missing or what I'd ordered. I've come to the conclusion they're ****! I'm not ordering anything else from them!
