Baldrick
I'm on the hunt for a Nightforce NXS, probably to sit on my .22-250. What's the consensus on reticles for foxing and occasional stalking? I gather JohnG has the NP-R2 ret on his Nightforce. Hodmedod, and any other NF owners, what do you recommend? I am thinking the NP-2DD looks quite uncluttered. http://www.nightforceoptics.com/RETICLES_O...s_overview.html Any advice appreciated. And if anyone knows of a good deal on a Nightforce NXS (new or S/H), please PM me.
PAULT
i got a 5.5x22x50 NP 2 DD brilliant scope for long range shooting the reticle is illuminated for night work
moses
I don't own a nightforce but I have used a NXS 5.5-22x56 with an NP2DD ret a couple of times. It's a great ret, the two horizontal lines bring your eye in nicely to the target and the centre dot is nice and small so doesn't obscure too much of what you're shooting at. I never thought I would want a NF scope but, I now have a 6x47 as a bit of an all round vermin, fox and the occasional deer rifle and I'm seriously considering putting an NXS on it with the NP2DD ret. I know they are a heavy scope and the glass in my opinion is not quite there compared to swaro, zeiss etc... but, they are very well made, great range of mag, target turrets that are 100% repeatable and that NP2DD ret all add up to a great long range scope. Baldrick
I've managed to shirk off the urge to buy NF until now, but I think the brand might offer me something that my high-mag Swarovski and Zeiss scopes lack (mainly the gadget factor, and that NF scopes look very steely). I did wonder about IOR glass, but the NF reticles seem much more precise to my eyes.
bullet boy
I quite like the Mil-Dot Reticle for the Nightforce.
Hodmedod.one
I have the NP-R2 reticle on my 8-32 x 56 NXS. Very fine and great for daylight work. It is not like my old S+B and Swaro's where a bull elephant (herds of them in Norfolk ) can hide behind the reticle posts When out foxing and using the red filter I just turn the illuminated reticle on and have the mag in the 10-16 range. I have never regretted selling my european scopes and purchasing the NXS. Most people who slag NF scopes off have never used one. Alex- next time you are in Norfolk you are welcome to come over and have a look through my NXS if you want. Cheers, Chris.
Baldrick
Chris, I may have to take you up on that kind offer. I've tracked down a variety of NSXs from various dealers and private sellers, but none are exactly what I am looking for. Why is it that when I want an S&B 8x56, the market is flooded with Nightforce scopes, and vice versa?
Hodmedod.one
Why is it that when I want an S&B 8x56, the market is flooded with Nightforce scopes, and vice versa? Because when you were looking for an S+B not many people knew how good NF scopes were. Now people are starting to get educated about NF.....that is why they are all flogging their S+B's :good:

Baldrick
William, I'm used to 24x magnification though, and find it useful for shooting at long range. I'm not sure a maximum of 15x mag would suit.

Baldrick
Scope just delivered to me. To my disappointment, the cretin selling this second-hand Nightforce (described both verbally and in writing as an NXS 8-32x56) has sent me the dated front-focus benchrest 8-32x56 model. So it's going straight back. Thank God no money has changed hands so far.

cleaner4hire
why are some people so stupid that they try and get away with stunts like that
Clifton morris
Hi ,i brought a nightforce nx rifle scope in september 2021 from sportsman gun center ,owing to not holdimg zero i sent it back for repair ,only to be told by sportsman gun center it would take six to seven weeks to sort it which i find ridiculous on a high end scope ,so if your thinking of getting a quality scope think of of the warranty issue before making your purchase ,if i had known this i would not have brought a nightforce
